On a slow afternoon drive through the bushveld of Klaserie, we rounded a bend and were greeted by this magnificent female leopard perched atop a termite mound. Bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, she seemed completely at ease, posing against a backdrop of golden light as the day slowly drew to a close.

Yesterday — serenity. Today — war. Up to 30 hyenas challenged this male lion for his carcass this morning in a scene that had us holding our breath. The sounds alone were something else entirely. This is why we live in this prestine Wilderness

The carcass had kept him through the night, and now the sun was keeping him company at dawn. On a crisp autumn morning in the bush, this magnificent male sat perfectly still — mane catching the first light, eyes scanning the bushveld. Some mornings in the wild are perfectly curated!

Saturday belongs to the cats! Spotted this young leopard high up in the trees along the Klaserie River — just casually owning the canopy like it's no big deal. Happy Caturday from Klaserie!

Next in the Series of F**k the bush is thick !

Those eyes though... A young lion playing the ultimate game of hide and seek. He thinks we can't see him. We absolutely can.
The bush doesn't lie — something is always watching you!

The striking contrast of deep black and vivid red on this Black Collared Barbet is nothing short of breathtaking. Nature at its most bold and beautiful.

…and if you're a Star Wars fan, you might see a familiar face. Anyone else getting strong Darth Maul vibes?

What you’re watching here is a Jacobin Cuckoo chick throwing a tantrum and begging for food from its foster parent, a Black-capped Bulbul. (Sound not great due to a roaring Klaserie River beneath the birds)

That bulbul is not the real parent.
Jacobin Cuckoos are brood parasites — instead of raising their own chicks, they sneak an egg into another bird’s nest. The unsuspecting foster parents then incubate the egg and raise the chick as their own… even when it grows bigger, louder, and far more demanding than any of their real offspring.

The cuckoo chick is basically born knowing how to beg like a champion, triggering the bulbul’s parental instincts on overdrive. And so the bulbul feeds, feeds, and feeds some more — completely unaware it’s been expertly played.

Nature: 1
Bulbul: 0
Cuckoo: Absolute legend
