The Story of the Blind Elephant

“Today I want to share a story of what was one of my most memorable wildlife sighting to date - the story of the blind elephant...As I inspected the images, I noticed something different about the largest female. Not only was she blind in one eye, but rather she was blind in both.”

I encourage anyone that’s interested to head over to the link in my profile and read the blog post in full. It’s an incredibly inspiring story and I hope you all have the opportunity to go and check it out!

That time we were only a couple feet away from a young male lion! With expert guiding from the one and only Lee Whittam, we were able to predict exactly what the lion was going to do - thus posing no threat to us!

not looking very impressed with this one 😂

Sharing one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken, from what is likely my favorite place on Earth

With finals week now here and a new adventure just on the horizon, I am feeling better than I have in quite a long time. I’m eager to go out and get creative in my imagery for the first time in a while and can’t help but feel more confident in my photos and photographic abilities.

I believe there’s a strong connection between the way you feel in your personal life and the quality of the images you create. With new opportunities coming everyday I couldn’t be more excited for what’s in store!

Just your typical day along the Las Piedras River in the Peruvian Amazon

I recently shared a bit on my Instagram Story about my adventure a few years back into the Peruvian Amazon. The trip gave me a renewed passion for camping and exploration, one that I can’t wait to see through in just two weeks time.

I’ll be posting regular updates on here on the lead up to my trip to Chile. Thanks for following along!

Been a bit quiet on social media of late as I focus on schoolwork, but wanted to share an exciting adventure I’ve got coming up.

In a little over 2 weeks time, and I will be making our way down to the Northern Part of Chile to explore the wild and vast Atacama Desert! The Atacama Desert is widely known as the driest place on Earth, and, given its altitude, is probably the best place to go and view stars.

I’ll be sharing more about this crazy adventure in the lead up to it, but until then here’s a taste of what I hope to capture while down there!

A personal favorite image of mine taken a year or so back

This scene absolutely blew my mind as two young male lions ascended the dam wall at Madikwe Game Reserve. Plus, the did this just as the sunset behind them decided to explode!

Being on foot with elephants allows you to explore these magnificent animals from an entirely new perspective. When only 20 feet separate you from the largest mammal walking this Earth, you realize for the first time just how colossal they are. A humbling experience to say the least...

Having spent the better part of the last week sick in bed, I can’t help but think about this scene from not 6 months ago...

Mornings in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park were cold...and I mean COLD! There were many times that it would dip bellow freezing and things got so bad at times that our pipes froze (not the Africa everyone expects now is it).

However, the one place of refuge after ones been out on a chilly drive or wakes up to the crisp morning air is the fire. So every morning I’d try to get up an extra 15 minutes before everyone else, just to sit by the fire and get it going. And these were some of my favorites moments from the trip!

The second image from the mystery destination!

This park is one of the only places in the world where you can see the elusive African Wild Cat...any ideas where that may be?!

Can you guess where this image was taken?

Over the course of the next week I’ll be sharing a bunch of photos from one remote destination. Can you guess where in Africa it is?!

Oh, and this is probably my favorite photo of an Ostrich I’ve ever taken. It was shaking off dust just as the sun set. I love the challenge in photographing these rather ugly animals!
