Got to the Karkloof hides on Saturday and we're very dissapointed to find no birds or activity. Only one lonely Cormorant sitting in a dead tree. A Japanese couple came to join us and the lady showed us on her camera what they had seen coming in to the property. Southern Ground Hornbills!!! In broken English they tried to explain where they saw them in the fields. A pair she said. We packed up and went searching for them. Up and down the avenue of trees scanning, but nothing. An African Harrier Hawk made an appearance and kept us busy taking photo's while it went from tree to tree looking for nests. Back in the car and on our way out we spotted them. Great excitement as we watched them make their way towards us through the long grass and then strutted down the road occasionally looking back at us. What a great lifer experience.
