Today, as we gather to bid farewell to our dear colleague and brother, Deon Franks, our hearts are heavy with sorrow but also filled with fond memories of a truly exceptional person.
Deon was not just a colleague but a friend, a mentor, and a role model for all of us. In the workplace, Deon was known for his unwavering dedication, his impeccable work ethic, and his ability to bring out the best in everyone around him.
He was a natural leader, always willing to lend a helping hand, and his absence will be deeply felt by his colleagues.
At home, Deon was a devoted husband and father. He cherished his family above all else and was always there to support and guide them through life's ups and downs. His love and generosity knew no bounds, and his family was the center of his world.
Deon's faith was also an integral part of his life. His strong beliefs and unwavering devotion to God were evident in everything he did. I personally witnessed him one day at the office. When he was under immense pressure, he calmly closed his office but forgot to close the blinds. When I noticed, he took out a book, opened it, and calmly took his time reading it. That very book was the Bible. After that, he opened his office door, went on with the tasks at hand, and executed them diligently.
I know now why he was always so calm and where he drew strength from. His faith overflowed in such a manner that it was displayed within the workplace, naturally!
He was an active member of his church and served as a shining example of living a life of faith and service. Beyond his professional and personal life, Deon was also deeply involved in his local community. He was a dedicated volunteer, always willing to lend a helping hand and make a positive impact on those around him.
He was especially passionate about his involvement in the Brigade, and today we saw just how much he was loved and respected by his fellow members. As we heard the heartfelt tributes to Deon today, it became clear just how many lives he touched and how much of a lasting impact he had on all of us.
His passing has left a void that will be difficult to fill, but we find solace in knowing that he will live on in our hearts and memories. Deon's funeral was a bittersweet reminder of the true meaning of life. It is not about our achievements or possessions, but about the love we share and the lives we touch.
Deon's life was a testament to this, and his passing serves as a reminder to cherish our loved ones and hold them close always.
To Deon's family, today's livestream was not business, but personal, as we also loved Deon as our "Boeta! Once again, we offer our deepest condolences and want you to know that you are not alone in your grief. Deon was a beloved member of our work family, and we will always be here to support and honor his memory.
Farewell, Deon Franks. You were a remarkable human being, and your legacy will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, knowing that your life was well lived and your impact on this world was immeasurable.
