Hi I'm Gabrielle. The face behind the camera.

I'm here for the real; the raw; the relatable and inspired moments - life journeys. The everyday extraordinary, calling it out in it's beauty, big and small.

People and their diversities is my passion, their stories and faces. Each one a beauty to behold in their own right that I thrive to share with you. My hope is that through these stories you would find encouragement to keep on with the goodness of life and at the very least bring your heart into fullness of gratitude, so that we would live a full life that sparks hope in others when needed.

Meet Ruth,

Originally from Brazil, Ruth has been living; working, and studying here in South Africa.
She has lived in and with many nations. Over the years of knowing her, but especially this year I have admired her courage, conviction, smarts, and discipline.

She is not afraid to speak up and action what is right and true, a challenge that a lot of people face and struggle with. This steams from a heart that deeply cares for those around her, and I mean it, a deep care and love. Ruth you have challenged and shown me that Love is fierce; it is bold; it stands up and roars toward injustice, it is not passive and in its tension it is also welcoming of all who are seeking it.

You have also been a role model in: equipping ourselves with knowledge and understanding - to seek it out with diligence and discipline so that we have a firm foundation to stand and reach into.

I am grateful for you, and for all you are. Thank you.

Meet Samantha.

I've postponed this post because I could not express the words in my heart. So I will tell you instead a story that I hope would articulate a glimpse of her character:

After our shoot together Sam prayed and annointed me. She prayed for my health when we are both trusting for great healing. She prayed for me when we are struggling with similar but different health battles. It takes great faith and courage to do that: to trust for someone else in the same area that you are fiercely battling. Where many days you need to choose faith and trust that you will see victory, and even if not - God is still good. So here I am typing with a heart deeply appreciative - knowing the cost and the scaridity of this prayer.

Meet Samantha and Nigel.

Earlier this year we went hiking up Lions Head where Nigel started sharing thier cross-cultural love story. Sam originally from the Netherlands with Philipino heritage, and Nigel from the beauty that is South Africa. As he was sharing thier story I was blown away by the intentionality and honour in which he pursued Sam, and now I find myself moved by the love that is still so fragrant in thier lives today.

Over the years I have seen glimpses of this wonderful couple push, persevere and celebrate life togther - in purpose, love and unity. Thank you. For loving each other well .You are an example, encouragement and inspiration.

I like to take time to sit and listen as to what the write up should be. Today these two scriptures were impressed on my heart for this incredible husband, father and leader. Nigel this is for you.

I laughed and laughed and overflowed with gladness. We were left shouting with joy and singing your praise. All the nations saw it and joined in, saying "The Lord has done great miracles for them! Yes he did mighty miracles and we are overjoyed!" -Psalm 126 vs 2 & 3

Arise and shine for the light of the Lord has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you - Isaiah 60 vs 1

A story of trust.

As a previous model and now a photographer I understand the vulnerability of being in front and behind the camera. Whether you know, kind of know or dont know who you're shooting with - it can still feel incredibly invasive.

Most clients share thier anxieties and that's when I have one of my favourite conversations. A conversation of reassurance and beauty. I talk to all my clients be it children, adults or the elderly and explain the way they feel is so natural and 15 minutes in we'll be having the time of our lives, and thankfully I can say so far we all have. Then I have the priviledge of affirming all the beauty I've seen and encountered with them. Ah. This part is why I live. To call out and capture the beauty of the everyday extraordinary.

Meet Maria, nickname Annie, also known as Lola to her grandchildren. This was the second time we've met over the last couple years. Maria has been (I use this term lightly) "stuck" in South Africa with her beautiful family since lockdown began. Originally from the Philippines she immigrated to the Netherlands where she raised her incredible family. One of her children being Samatha, who just happens to be one of my favourite people. (Stay tuned for her shoot!)

When I arrived for the shoot I wasn't aware she was here, and asked her if she would like her picture taken. She said yes and we had so much fun. Annie is spontaneous, full of life in both sense of the word: God and vibrancy. I enjoyed her participation, and especially her prayer for me at the end of the shoot.

Paige and I met this week, and instantly she felt like family. She called me up to drop off a parcel, and I asked if she would be keen to do a spontaneous shoot. Wow. That's no small thing. It can feel intimidating to get your photo taken. I told her to think about it and let me know when she gets to our house, which was like 2 min away. She arrived, said yes, and then with mask and some distance between us (zoom lens come through!) We laughed our shoot away.

Paige is brave. She is confident. She is warm. She just moved to our Mother City, started a new job and is taking it by storm with love, kindness and wisdom as her weapons.

Meet Ethnie. The moment I met her I decided I wanted to be friends. Her heart is strong and filled with kindness. She is a woman who loves to laugh, is determined, sensitive and works hard. She is real and she is relatable. Whenever we spend time I find my heart uplifted by her joy. Ethnie I admire all of who you are. I am grateful for our friendship.
