Day 2 Botswana recap! A brief intermission of meerkats on this morning. A whole family of them, right at home in their own patch of the Kalahari, completely unbothered by the audience 😉. Then, back to camp in the afternoon to recharge batteries and gear.

As afternoon arrived we were back up in the sky, and got incredibly lucky witnessing the zebras migrating across the salt pans - in light you just can’t plan for. This is the migration behind my latest release - ‘The Great Remembering’.

Over the last few weeks we’ve been sharing parts of my latest collect ‘The Great Remembering’.

I started this collection in 2025, and I wasn’t planning on going back to Botswana.

Then word came through that the area had just seen its heaviest rainfall in twenty years. We booked flights within days. Brigid and I were back in Botswana within the week, and I chartered a helicopter to get above the salt pans while the migration was moving through it.

Walk through the doors at Moorings and the first thing you meet is the sea.

The Bazaruto Collection greets every visitor before they’ve had the chance to look anywhere else. Sculpted sandbanks, the slow turn of tidal patterns, water and light caught mid-conversation over the Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique. Muluku’s Promise. The Eternal Garden. Nyami Nyami’s Embrace. Each photograph a small piece of that coastline, held still for a moment longer than the tide would ever allow.

It’s the collection we chose to open with, and there’s a reason for that. Before the wildlife, before the dust and the long drives north, there is water: endless, unhurried, the spirit of Africa in a single frame.

‘The Great Remembering’ exhibition is set up in the middle of the Waterfront, right outside H&M, until the 17th of August. It’s a little taste of a few different collections, and the debut of our newest piece: The Great Remembering.

For nearly forty years, no zebra crossed this route.

The migration between the Okavango Delta and the salt pans of Nxai Pan is the longest land migration in Africa - more than a thousand kilometres, there and back. Veterinary fences had cut it in two, and for decades, this stretch of Botswana simply went unwalked.

Then in 2004, the fences came down.

Here’s what stayed with me. A zebra lives about twelve years. So when the route opened again, not one animal alive had ever made the crossing. Neither had their parents. Nor their grandparents. Three full generations had passed since the last zebra walked this line.

And yet they walked it. The exact route. Guided by nothing any living animal could recall.

Something in them knew.

Off Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique, the dhows still move as they always have: sails catching wind, hulls following current, no engine to hurry them along. Against that horizon, they carry forward a rhythm passed down through generations, a way of reading wind and sea that hasn’t changed with the crossing.

‘The Call of the Dhows’ holds that continuity. Each vessel is small against the water, yet there is nothing fragile in it. A craft built on trust between sailor and sea, learned patiently, boat after boat, generation after generation.

Some photographs stay with you.

Not because they’re your favourites, but because you know you’ll never make them again.

‘New Life’ was photographed in Namibia in 2014. Since then, Adam has returned year after year, hoping the landscape, the weather and the seasons might align in the same way.

They never have.

That’s the thing about photographing wild places. You can prepare, you can wait, you can keep showing up. But some moments simply happen once.

Maybe that’s what makes New Life so special.

For the love of Africa.
