gh to act upon it. Photography is the art of storytelling without words. In my wildlife photography, I attempt to capture two things; intimate insight and beauty. Intimate insight in terms of character and physical make up, and beauty in expression, form and physical structure. Large scale prints emit an understated power. Perhaps it is their size, a heightened perspective and the isolation of the figures in the frame, but there is a mystery underlying them. All images are photographed with top end digital SLR cameras. The original digital RAW files are Lightroom processed and sharpened in Photoshop. Printing is completed on an Epson SP9900 or Epson 4900. Photographs are on Epson coated media with genuine Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks. Although Rashid’s formal education was not in photography, he is integrating a scientific background with a passion for the fine arts. He has close to 40 years photographic experience gained mainly in the wild of Eastern and Southern Africa. His love for photography started at his fathers side, himself an accomplished East African wildlife photographer, as a young assistant in the 70’s. For many years he shot film and did his own developing and printing. Today Rashid shoots almost exclusively digital and still does his own processing and printing. Aside from shooting wildlife and nature he does concert photography on a professional basis. His Awards
Rashid competes on the international photography circuit. He has won too many awards to list here. Amongst his many achievements he has taken gold medals in California, Golden West, USA Saguaro, USA Maitland, Australia. In 2010 he was shortlisted for BBC wildlife photographer of the year.
