1. Choose neutral, timeless colours
Wear something that makes you feel confident, beautiful and like you. Neutral tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you as a couple.
2. Schedule your hair & makeup trial
Your engagement session is the perfect opportunity to have your wedding hair and makeup trial done — two birds, one stone!
3. Make it a date day
Plan something special afterwards, like dinner or drinks. It makes the whole experience feel like a proper date rather than just another photoshoot.
4. Choose a location that feels like YOU
Don’t choose the beach just because it looks pretty on Instagram if you hate sand! Pick somewhere that reflects your relationship and your personalities.
5. Put those photos to good use
Use your engagement photos for your save-the-dates, wedding website, invitations, guest book or social media.
6. Think of it as practice for your wedding day
It’s a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera, learn how your photographer works and build a connection before the big day.
7. Bring comfy shoes 👟
Wearing heels? Bring comfortable shoes for walking between locations. Your feet will thank you!
8. Bring your dogs! 🐶
If your fur babies are part of your story, bring them along! Just let your photographer know beforehand so we can plan around them.
9. Feeling nervous is completely normal
Camera shy? Awkward? Nervous? Totally normal. You don’t need to know what to do — that’s our job! Just enjoy being with the person you love and we’ll guide you through the rest. When in doubt… cuddle and kiss. 😉❤️
10. Choose somewhere different from your wedding venue
If possible, choose an engagement session location that looks and feels different from your wedding venue. It gives you more variety in your photos and creates two completely different sets of memories.
