Winter is my favourite time for beach shoots. Yes, it might mean sticking your feet into the freezing ocean, but it’s worth the beautiful photos, I promise!
The beach in winter is quiet, there is less chance of wind and you get to wear a cozy jersey - it’s a win all around, really.

Fun fact! I used to work for a photography studio that exclusively did studio sessions and school photos. So sometimes I do still get asked whether I do studio sessions, and the answer is both yes and no.
Let me explain...
I will do studio shoots for small family groups or individuals, at select natural-light studios. I won’t do large groups or sessions that require external lighting. Hiring a studio is an extra bit of admin, and an extra cost and finding a space that works can be challenging.
I do enjoy the beautiful ease of a studio, and the switch of focus from beautiful locations to little details.

The privilege to watch a family grow and change with the years is something I’ll never take for granted. The Hastings Family come out to South Africa often enough that we’re able to do catch up shoot sessions, and it’s a pleasure every.single.time.
When I see an inbox message from them, I know I’m in for something beautiful, and there is nothing more special than having somebody come back to me for photos after a year, two years or even decades. I’ve been in this long enough to know that being called on - again - is the highest honour.

We got told off for having a loud car on this street, but looking at the photos? 1000000% worth it! I adored this very intimate elopement in March, a true balm for the soul. Surrounded by hand chosen loved ones, in a small AirBnB, with an amazing view and great food - what else could you truly ask for?

This wedding day is right up there in my all time favourites - it was relaxed, intimate, and full of joy - truly the best qualities for a wedding day in my books.
