A short documentary for on statelessness and its everyday impact.

A few moments I captured — stories often unseen, but deeply felt.

Indonesia 🇮🇩 2025

After years of holding onto expired 120m medium format. I knew it was a risky move to use the film but I thought, what’s the worst that can happen? Loose all or win some frames.

I shot this on my Yashica camera, which I had to read the light, guess the expose and measure distance of focus in the moment. Love the challenge, but not what it cost to develop!

Which is your favourite?

Ratiep is more than performance—it’s a living expression of South African Sufi heritage.

Rooted in centuries-old spiritual devotion, this ritual blends rhythmic dhikr, piercing physical feats, and powerful symbolism to invoke divine protection and unity.

Born through journeys across Southeast Asia, ratiep now pulses through South African townships—where faith, identity, and resistance meet on sacred benches worn by time.

Aunty Rhode has lived in Bo-Kaap for over fifty years, holding onto the family home her father once cared for.

Every morning, before the children wake for school, she feeds the birds—just like he did.

She told me, as I filmed her, how her father once asked,

‘Who will feed the birds when I’m no longer here?’

Now, she smiles as she scatters seed—
remembering him, answering that question in the quiet ritual of each new day.”

Die Burger 2012. My first exposure to news and being a photo journalist.

Dropping my ex at the time and school where she used to teach. Finding Mannenberg and Phillppi very interesting, lunging my Canon 7d- 50m 1.4 everywhere, unfazed running documenting there service delivery protests. This is where I found my passion for filmmaking

This post is dedicated to the memory of a remarkable woman who profoundly influenced my creative journey. She consistently championed my work, pushing for it to be exhibited and shared. Her commitment extended beyond her art; she gave her heart and mind to a community that had been displaced, mistreated, and overlooked, educating youth and completing her Master’s degree just days before she passed away.

The work we created together remains a cherished accomplishment, a beacon of hope for our people during dark times. Ayesha Price had a vision to celebrate the southern suburbs around Pelican Park, selecting six locations where each image would convey a visual story.

Ayesha Price (.yes.ha_): Your legacy lives on.

1. Khayelitsha
2. Pelican Park
3. Pelican Park
4. Skaapkraal
5. Grassy Park
6. Princess Vlei

The pictures are now displayed at the Pelican Park Community Center.

Having the freedom to just be in your element, and take in and observe the magic around you.
Is a gift only a few will appreciate.
