I had an amazing opportunity last week to attend a ladies event, Messy Beautiful at Thrive Church, Boksburg (4 Aug). I was there in my capacity as an artist and was asked to paint something beautiful from something messy while all the ladies mingled in the foyer.

I've decided to paint a bluebird from my colourful messy canvas ;)

And why the bluebird?

Bluebirds are a spiritual symbol of the angelic realm.. It's meaning one of happiness, grace and delight.

The bluebird always finds the time to gently dance through the sky, patiently making its way through life, and sweetly singing the song of it's own truth, which is filled with joy and playfulness.

It reminds us to lighten up, to let go, to stop taking life so seriously and start taking the time to simply enjoy. To express ourselves freely and sing our own unique song.

I'm the first to admit, I'm not a winter person. I really don't like this cold.

And every year I try not to complain too much when the days are really chilly. So, as I'm sitting here at my desk in my cozy home office, I'm trying to think of 5 things I love about winter.

Yes, I said LOVE about winter :P

1. The clear starry night sky.
2. Hot Chocolate with a dab of Amarula.
3. Winter food like pasta bakes, stews and thick,creamy soups.
4. Home movie nights, snuggled under the blankets.
5. Finding a sunny corner in the house to sit and read a book.
