Cayleigh & David / Ballito

The last time I touched the ocean was the afternoon spent with Cayleigh and David a few weeks ago right before the beach ban. We stayed right up until the last second we could until officials were waving us off as I pretended to not see or hear them.

I miss the ocean so much.

I was infinitely more lucky though to be able to document yet another beautiful chapter in their lives. I just know you guys are going to be epic parents.

I am so grateful that I was able to document the Beattie family over lockdown, Devin & Minette are some of my oldest friends and clients and I have been able to share some beautiful memories with them over the years. Miss Lily Skin Clinic | Westville

I really appreciate these two hard working, fun loving people in my life. I connected with Leilah and Sahib in our gym last year and we have had so much fun and banter sharing kettlebells, sweat, tears and coffees between ourselves.

I admire both of them so much and how they bounce strategies between themselves and execute new products and services for Miss Lily Wellness Centre. I am so happy I got the chance to provide some images for their website and social media and I cannot wait to continue sharing my time and skills as a photographer as they grow their flourishing business.

Jahaan came into the studio a bit soft spoken and a little nervous I thought. It's possible I misjudged the power and confidence she has within herself. Or perhaps in the process of creating images together it brought that out within her.

I don't think I could ever do Judy justice in trying to describe what energy and love she has for her family and friends. Seriously, it's like there is this bubble around her that pulls people in and you can't help but feel energised and full of love and gratitude for each other. It was so apparent when I met her for the first time that morning.

This day was also one of the last few moments we would all have our toes in the sand. Looking back on them now and sharing them has made me feel so grateful for what I am able to do, I can't wait for more opportunities like this in the future to witness how beautiful some family dynamics are.

Judy's sister and Niece flew all the way from the states and everyone managed to keep it a secret the entire time with no one letting it slip! Those were some of my favorite images when she realizes it was them running down the beach.

The lockdown has been a rollercoaster friends, I am sure you have had days where you were able to create and learn and be so productive, then days where you couldn't even get out of bed.

I hope we have all learn't how to be just a little bit more kind to ourselves.

Jessica & Nick / The Secret Garden

So we are all riding a unique rollercoaster at the moment, one that we are almost certain won't return to it's original starting point and back to familiarity. Yet we have stepped up and on and embraced our collective vulnerability. Now more than ever we need real connection and authenticity with the people we care about, the pace we find ourselves in allows for opportunity to grow our relationships so that we come out of this difficult place so grateful for what we have and the lives we used to be able to live.

I got to document part of Nick and Jess's own rollercoaster recently and it was beautiful, it was filled with nerves and so many good laughs too. I know as long as they keep holding onto each other they will be just fine, just like we all need to do right now. Hold each other tight.
