There are two spots still available on this year’s astrophotography workshop at Kubu Island. This is a phenomenal location to photograph these arboreal giants against a panoply of stars spinning overhead in the night sky. We purposely keep our groups small so that you get ample opportunity to both learn how, and to create awesome imagery of the night sky.

Of course there’s more to Kubu than just the stars though. A chance to gaze across the vastness of Soa Pan, relax and banter by the fire with likeminded photographers and catch the morning sun against a backdrop of Africa’s most iconic trees.

Massive thanks to Radonirina Franck Manantsoa and for their tireless effort in getting us to the right locations at the right time. Madagascar has some of the most grueling roads to find and these guys are super-human at driving over these exhausting tracks and routes.

A huge part of a successful photo workshop is the group itself! Humour, patience and a love of light on the landscape lend toward making the journey a memorable adventure and experience. Thanks guys! It was a privilege exploring the island with you! I look forward to seeing some awesome images from an incredible trip.

Back from our ‘Exploring the Island Continent’ workshop and now trawling through hundreds of images from the fantastic journey we made through the south of Madagascar. What a trip!

2 spaces still available on this year’s Kubu Island Astro photography workshop. Lekhubu is an extraordinary outcrop of rock on the edge of Soa Pan in the middle of Botswana. These arboreal giants stand like silent sentinels looking out over the flat horizon. Walking between them is amazing, and photographing them as the Milky Way rises is an experience in itself.

Gearing up for our spectacular ‘Exploring The Island Continent’ photographic workshop starting this weekend. and will be meeting the team of photographers in Antananarivo before heading to the coast and south in search of awesome photo opportunities: baobabs, lemurs, chameleons, the night sky, rice fields, mountains and the wonderful Malagasy people! This is an epic trip through an unforgettable country! If you missed this one, we have dates up for 2027 and 2028.

We’re heading back to the incredible Madagascar for our ‘Exploring the Island Continent’ photographic workshop at the end of May. This year’s workshop is full but there is still space for the 2027 edition! Check out our website for details or drop a DM for details or the brochure.

Okay, that was just plain epic! Thanks to certain ludicrous decisions made globally, our planned maiden workshop in Nepal was completely scuppered. The photographers (what a group of adventure junkies and all-round awesome traveling companions .za .glennie ) joining us basically decided, ‘what’s the alternative?’ So at last minute dot com the team at Natures Light whipped together a southern Namibia and Richtersveld adventure which I have just returned from. There’ll be more images to come, suffice to say it was epic! Quiver trees, stars, roaring dune sands, extraordinarily vast and desolate mountainsides, seering heat and soul-breathing isolation from the rest of the world (the Richtersveld is truly, achingly, remote). The images above are a tiny sample of what we photographed over the last two weeks. After this, we’ll definitely be looking at adding the Richtersveld as a dedicated photographic workshop in future.
