Elainedg Photography Elainedg Photography specialises in underwater photography. Welcome to my world of photography. I am a sucker for pictures and my phone memory is always full.

Anyone who knows me will know that if I am at an event, there will be pictures taken - normally MANY pictures :)

I have always been passionate about photography and about scuba diving ... put them together and voila ...
Unfortunately, as a working mother, I don't get to dive as often as I would like, and it has been some time since I have been underwater, but here is a collection of some of my work so far. I hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to leave comments or crits ... all are welcome :)

So better late than never ... on the 30th April 2018 I officially won my first ever underwater photography competition that I had entered ... and in no less than 2 categories.
One for Novice Macro and one for Marine Life Behaviour. I won an Aqualung dive computer, a years subscription to DAN and 2 nights accomodation in Sodwana at Nautilus Lodge. What an honour :)

And so I have finally got around to sorting and editing all my pics from Manado & Lembeh. Lembeh has always been my number one bucket list diving destination and I was so priviledged and completely overwhelmed by what I saw. There literally was not enough time on each and every dive to photograph everything ... and forget about changing camera settings to try and get that perfect shot ... as you are lining up and taking a pic of the 1st creature that you see, so the dive guides are rattling there little sticks to get your attention for the next creature. And for those who know me, I have a bit of FOMO so I always had to get over to where they were to see what wierd and wonderful spectacle awaited my eyes. It is truly a macro photographer's heaven and I absolutely will be back again ... with an even bigger and better lens ... and yes ... with TWO strobes.
Just a sidenote ... there is a significant language barrier over there... so if anyone can identify what the creatures are ... please feel free to add it in :)

I am slowly going to start putting up my Indonaesia pics from trip to Manado & Lembeh Straits at beginning of October 2017. They will be coming in dribs and drabs as I took over 4500 pics ... and have had to select either the good pics, or the not so good ones ... but such a unique critter that I just had to share. You literally cannot take anything at face value, or should we call it ... "eye value". There is always a shrimp or some other kind of critter sitting on top of or right next to whatever you are photographing. It happened more than once that I have only seen these things after downloading my pics and zooming in. TOO many times the dive guide would point out something, and I literally could not see it with my naked eye. So I held up the camera and shot away in the hope that I would capture whatever amazing critter they were showing me. A pregnant pygmy seahorse smaller than your pinky nail, a Lembeh Sea Dragon that looked like a piece of floating moss and so so much more. Unfortunately due to the language barrier a lot of these things are still unidentified to me ... so if you can help in this regard, please do :)

Without a doubt, THEE most amazing and unique diving I have ever done, and I will be back without a doubt. For the macro photographers out there ... Lembeh straits cannot be beaten !!!
