Capturing magic beneath the surface 🌊📸

These incredible shots were taken during an Underwater Photography course and was Vincent’s very first photo dives in Simon’s Town — what a start! A perfectly camouflaged cuttlefish blending into its surroundings, and a vibrant orange-clubbed nudibranch resting on the kelp.

I enjoyed teaching him so much. He went from a complete beginner to confidently shooting in full Manual mode in such a short time — not an easy feat underwater!

I’m proud of the progress, grateful to have been part of the journey, and excited to see where his underwater photography takes him next. The sky (or should I say, the ocean 😉) is the limit!

“When my head dips below the surface, I go to a quiet place. I hear my breath, feel the cool ocean water’s pressure on my body, and marvel in the vibrant reefs. I experience a meditative state, drawn into the here and now. Behind my camera, I’m lost to the underwater world. Whether I’m photographing seascapes or tiny creatures, I get swept away in their world. Here my mind doesn’t wander, no overthinking or worry. It’s quiet.”

Slipped beneath the surface and into another world…

A perfect day diving A-Frame in Simon’s Town, with rare crystal-clear visibility that turned the kelp forest into a living cathedral of light and life. Towering stalks of kelp swayed above schools of fish weaving between the shadows, while we drifted in awe through this magical underwater realm.

These moments remind me why I keep coming back — same site, but never the same dive.
