Friends, this is not the easiest post for me to write, but I’m choosing to show up honestly.

The past two years have been incredibly heavy as I’ve been navigating a difficult legal journey to protect myself and my child. I’ve just received another legal invoice of R25 000, and with everything I’ve already had to cover, I’m emotionally exhausted and financially stretched to my limit.

I had the most fun photographing The Haunted Forest at Inanda Country Base hosted by Picnics in the Park

The event was massive and they delivered with entertainment, decor, movies, food trucks, a freak show, 2 haunted houses, a 6ft spider jumping out of the haunted forest spooky walk. Honestly, it was a fun filled evening and EVERYONE dressed up. I so enjoyed photographing the most iconic and interesting outfits!

I can’t wait for next year, I kind of wish it was a festival running several nights.

Shoutout to Leone, her team, the decor crew, the actors and all the vendors. Wow, just wow! And well done to a successful event.

Taking photos at 1pm when the sun is bright can be so daunting. How do you get that same feeling of magic that the golden hour at sunset has to offer?

Years ago I did a workshop with the magnificent and her tip was, shoot into a dark background. Honestly, it was a game changer for me. So now I can go to a wedding, family shoot or event and not be scared that there will be “bad” light. It’s all about perspective and how you see the light.

Zoe & Sam’s wedding in August was so magical and all I had to do was to position them in the right spot. Their love and laughter did the rest.

As millennials, we’ve mastered the art of documenting life — from our toddlers' first steps to coffee dates and travel adventures. Our phones are full of snapshots of everyday moments. But there’s one quiet truth we often overlook: our parents are aging, and time with them is not promised.

I often find myself capturing young families in the beautiful golden light, chasing after giggling toddlers or snuggling up with partners. But what I notice too often is this: we forget to turn the lens around. We forget to include our own parents — the people who raised us, the ones who shaped us — in the story.
