Did you know? Spotted hyena milk has the highest protein and fat content of any terrestrial carnivore. Cubs will nurse from their mother for approximately 12 months, though they can process solid food from as early as three months.

Black-backed Jackals (Lupulella mesomelas) include a large variety of prey items in their diet and are known to eat invertebrates, reptiles, birds, small mammals, young antelopes, and even berries and fruit.

This patient jackal landed itself a Vlei Rat (Otomys sp.) for breakfast.
