Building Brands that Bring Dreams To Life
My enthusiasm over the development and refinement of a brand is always the same. I get to be part of creating something profound, something that will have a positive impact on the founder, owner, business, NPO and everyone they engage with - their staff, their suppliers, their customers, their beneficiaries. It's about packaging something in a way that people understand, can relate to, and get excited about.
When you create a brand DNA for an existing, established business, the first conversation is always the same. I know what our purpose, values, attributes and differentials are, but through the busyness of running the business, I have lost sight of the dream, the bigger picture, the why. The renewed energy that the discussions, research, and final Brand DNA document creates for my client brings me so much joy. My favourite responses are - "I have more clarity and confidence in the direction my business is going, and I have found my mojo again!"
I recently worked with Sharks defence coach and industrial psychology specialist, Joey Mongalo, who is as passionate about words as I am. Once we were happy with the Brand DNA document, he said 'What's next, Ten?'. So I gave him the ideal breakdown - get Michael Viljoen Studio to develop the name, the corporate identity, the style guidelines, and the website and get Camilla Blomfield from Freshshoots Photography to do the photography.
This is always a difficult decision for an entrepreneur, not because they don't see the value but the investment is significant. Joey fully understands that if you want to grow strategically and exponentially there are no shortcuts to building a business or a brand. The stronger the foundation, the higher you can build.
I am beyond excited to showcase this incredible brand on the 22 June and so grateful for the trust he has in me and the Ten & Co Dream Team. Strong brands emerge when every element -written, verbal, visual - work together to tell a consistent and compelling story.
