This was my final shoot in the Vaal, and what better way to close a chapter than with someone who played a leading role in it🖤

Many of you know this gorgeous smile. Some of you have sat in her chair. For those who haven’t, let me introduce you to Isabel.

Isabel held my hand through many ups and downs in my photography career. Her craft played a massive role in the work I produced, not just technically and artistically, but in the way she gave every client the space to arrive, breathe, and ease into their shoot before the camera even came out.

I never had to say much. Just “this person needs hair and makeup” and she’d read the room completely. Any age, any skin tone, any gender. She’s literally a makeup ninja.

While she worked, I’d set up or edit and I’d find myself just listening. Watching her turn a chair into a safe space. Clients would open up, laugh, relax. By the time they stepped in front of my lens, they were already themselves.

I’ve sat in her chair a few times myself and every single time I’ve thought: “that’s ME?” And not in some catfishy way. She’s just genuinely brilliant at enhancing what’s already there.

I did the Istanbul stopover program on my way to Egypt and spent 27 hours exploring this maze of a city.

There’s so much to say about the kindness of the people and their hospitality. The energy, architecture, CATS, coffee and Bosphorus have left me in awe and I need to return soon😍🇹🇷
