Alas, all good things must come to an end, and our Patagonia adventure has officially drawn to a close.

What an incredible journey it has been, filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters, breathtaking scenery, and so much laughter. Over the course of the trip, we were fortunate enough to see 11 different pumas, a red fox….the first sighting of the season and quite rare to see here, gray foxes, a pair of pygmy owls, a soaring flock of condors, eagles, and countless guanacos, all set against one of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth.

As remarkable as the wildlife was, the people made the experience truly special. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of guests to share this adventure with. Their enthusiasm, flexibility, and positive energy made every day a joy and helped create so many magical moments along the way.

A huge thank you to our phenomenal guides, and , and to our tracker Roberto. Together, they are the dream team of Patagonia, and their knowledge, dedication, and passion made this trip unforgettable.

Until next year, Patagonia! I’ll miss you dearly.

Our afternoon ended with not one but two pumas, Petaka followed closely by Dania walking right past us. The two cats are having a bit of a spat and pushing each other around but they kept things peaceful with only a passing hiss every so often. Thanks to our amazing guides and for putting us in all the right spots!

When baby pumas attack! We’ve spent quite a bit of time with a young puma named Frost and her two absolutely adorable fluffy 3 month old cubs. Today we’re off to see the beautiful landscapes of Torres Del Paine National Park and hopefully some wildlife too

Our first full day in Patagonia could not have begun more beautifully. The morning started with a fleeting glimpse of the famous Petaka in the darkness before sunrise. We would spend much more time with her later in the day, but our early hours were devoted to locating Virgo, a massive and somewhat fussy male puma.

Virgo was not particularly interested in our company. After watching us for a short while, he quietly wandered off, pausing only briefly to offer a striking glance back over his shoulder, a moment that certainly gave me some happy chills. Having recently enjoyed a big meal, his belly was noticeably full and round.

Sitting beside a roaring lion is an experience unlike any other. Hearing his brother answer from just beyond him made the moment even more unforgettable. We found these two very early one morning, stretched out asleep in the road, long before anyone else had arrived. In the stillness of the African dawn, we had the privilege of watching them stir, move through the soft morning light, and call to one another across the otherwise silent landscape.

After spending nearly six weeks in Africa this past spring, I’m almost afraid to face the sheer number of photos still waiting to be sorted through but now that both of my broken wrists are finally healing well, I’m beginning the process at last.

For several days, we searched for these lion cubs, knowing they were somewhere nearby, hidden deep within the dense brush. We had nearly given up once again when our guide spotted this little one in the distance. As the sun dipped lower and golden light washed across the landscape, he and his siblings finally emerged to play. It was the perfect ending to yet another magical day in Botswana. On Friday, I head to Patagonia to lead a small group photography workshop, and I truly can’t wait. Naturally, that sent me digging through photos from last year’s journey. These two beauties are the famous Petaka’s enormous cubs and I’m hoping I’ll be lucky enough to see them again.

We found this beautiful boy wandering around first thing in the morning. Everything was so still and quiet and the weather couldn’t quite figure out what it wanted to do and cast such interesting hues across the landscape. It was supposed to be completely overcast and potentially rainy, yet small pockets of blue sky appeared anyway to offset the gloominess.

A few weeks ago I kicked off my Eastern North Carolina guiding season with an awesome husband and wife team. We had amazing wildlife encounters with multiple bears and even a critically endangered Red Wolf. To top it all off, on our final pass of the day, we found this young bear perched in a tree, the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure.

Join me this season for a private wildlife and photography tour. Dates are filling quickly!

A little Sunday morning fox kit shenanigans! These tiny hooligans could turn just about anything into a toy, but a big fluffy feather was pure gold in their world.
