When bush TV and sunset combine in a place of beauty. I had a brief moment to enjoy this whilst waiting for the mighty warriors tearing up the miles on Mount Inyangani during the Runyanga 100 miler in Zimbabwe. It's such an epic event and for anyone that enjoys beautiful views, hills and good company, this is definitely an adventure you should take part in. And be prepared to see some wildlife, epic views, crystal clear mountain water, and above all super friendly race volunteers which are the lifeblood of any big adventure race.

So stoked to be included in the with my images for . There are some amazing races around the world and to have over 100 ultra marathon events featured in one book is epic. But being somewhat biased, the Salt Pan Ultra is simply incredible and it should feature on your running joureny. The authors Jen and Sim Benson have done an amazing job to put this together.

Its been a wild few months, where being home, was merely a temporary arrangement. Having travelled to Zimbabwe to cover Runyanga 100miler, northern Zululand to follow up on the community bee projects I have helped establish, to Meycol Nature Reserve, where the ongoing battle with cattle rages on, to Botswana where I covered the Salt Pan Ultra and to help Desert and Delta Safaris with shooting some content for an up and coming product launch, to the Drakensburg to cover Run the Berg and Kudu Canter and in-between that all was the Karkloof 100Miler and the EXP Africa Adventure at Treverton and a couple of Brand shoots for Isuzu in Zimbabwe and Bokkie Bokkie, a young clothing brand and to Umhali for the Balwin Properties Golf Day. It's been awesome and now a new season begins with new challenges and I am sure countless sleepless nights, which I hope dont come to fruition. Its nearly a wrap for this years events, but the year is far from done. There is always a feeling of accomplishment after the edits are done, after the legs, back and neck have recovered and the sleep deprivation of tackling a 100miler starts to subside. As the main media person taking videos and photos of the event, rushing from location to location, or simply waiting for the runners to arrive once a good location has been found for that one or two images before moving on again. Runyanga is beautifully rugged, the climbs are tough and combined with altitude breathing is always somewhat laboured. But I am blessed in being able to get to these destinations, where great teams work tirelessly to put the events together. The crew from Live Adventures is no different. They are passionate about creating tough but beautiful events in crazy locations.

Thanks guys for entrusting me once again to shoot Runyanga for you. It's always awesome.

It's taken a while, but finally I took the jump and landed on "it's time to do my PhD". A massive commitment, but I have some awesome people supporting me. Thank you for the use of your properties and to allow me to establish apiaries on site. And to for your awesome canopy that helps me move the hives, swarms and often catchboxes. The bees are kept safe and snug while I'm on the road.

Stationed at the 37km mark I got to witness the entire group Comrades participants coming past, from first to last and everyone in-between. From pure runners to the odd fashion diva and a few friends as well. Comrades 2025, was spectacular as always. Even though I wasnt shooting my in my normal style, I thoroughly enjoyed the morning out. To all the Comrades runners, from everyone that started to all those that finished, well done. I simply love this place, Augrabies Falls National Park. I think each photographer has special places they love shooting. This is one of mine. The dramatic landscapes, the runners, the night skies. Heading to Augrabies Falls National park and the Augrabies Klipspringer Challenge is a great way to spend a weekend. But 2025 was a little different, with high water levels and a constantly rising river the challenge was truly there for the organisers. The falls were spectacular, and the green grass was insane to see. What a place to go. Another beautiful day in Sunny South Africa, but with a massive raging Orange River. Seeing the water tumble thundering down the Augrabies Falls is spectacular. But what is even more incredible, is that this is only about half the water, as there are numerous other channels that miss the main falls altogether.

The Salt Pans Ultra Marathon is one of my absolute highlights of the year. Running out onto the pan and being alone in the emptiness and at the mercy of the environment. Being able to capture the runners taking on this challenge is a challenge itself. But it is simply a bucket list event for any trail runner and even for a road runner. The total elevation may only be about 21m, but dont be fooled, it's brutal and not known to be kind. Training becomes your friend and managing your nutrition and liquid intake is your survival and finishing is a drug few get to taste.

The Salt Pans Ultra Marathon (SPU) is an annual ultra marathon over 50km/100km in the Salt Pans in Botswana. It's the world's toughest flat route ultra race.
