are absolutely useless! I made an online purchase on Wednesday 15 May 2024. The free delivery option was for Friday 17 May 2024. I needed my order to produce product urgently for a client. Friday came and went, so did Saturday and Sunday. On Monday 20 May, I struggled but eventually managed to get hold of the Takealot Delivery Team. I was told that my order was lost. And that someone would get back to me. You won’t believe, no contact until I again called them. I was told that I should reorder the product, but not to worry because they would do it for me. I stressed the urgencyand they assured me I would receive the order on Tuesday 21 May. Tuesday came and Tuesday went, still no delivery. On Wednesday, I again made contact with them only to be told that they could not understand why I had not received my order. I asked to speak with a manager but was told that there was no available manager and they would get a manager to call me. The person then told me that the reason I had not received my order is because they didn’t have stock. 🤔
I again asked to speak to a manager but was told that I could not. It is now 18H48 on Thursday 23 May, I have not received my order and have not heard a word from Takealot.
Is it possible that a company such ad Takealot allow items that are not in stock to be purchased? Surely not, it is the most basic setting in any system to not allow items that are out of stock to be displayed in the online store and most definitely not to allow people to purchase what you don’t have in stock or are unable to fulfil.
I have been back to the online store and am still able to purchase what I ordered with next day delivery option.
I have been using Takealot for many years and am sad to say that they are just plain and simple USELESS! They don’t have a cooking clue on how to manage a simple transaction or how to manage when they make a mistake…so SAD!

Amazon are now available in South Africa. I also purchase off Temu and Shein who are based in china and are able to expedite and order faster than Takealot.
