Memories matter.

I was clearing out my Google drive and I found these photos in a planned social media post that I never got to. A year or two later, they carry even more weight now than ever.

This was a special birthday celebration along with family and friends and I had the absolute honour to hear the most beautiful stories of this dear couple meeting at university, how a loving husband-to-be then helped the girl he had an eye for with anatomy studies, how friends walked to go dancing in the streets then being safer than now, how children have grown into their own successes following the example of their determined parents.

An umpteenth count of candles were placed on a beautiful birthday cake, cueing a potential fire hazard along with an interesting updraft and giggles from the grandchildren for their grandmother to blow all the candles out.

Friends and family, pets shared in this celebration. Health has deteriorated for some, but they're held up and supported by those around them.

These pictures show the privilege of growing older through what life throws at you, through sickness and in health and the people that walked the journey with you along the way. Throw the big party, invite the friends and family, have the photos taken. Because as time ticks on, you'll look back at these pictures and the puppy would have grown up, dancing together might be harder, umpteenth + 1 more candle is added to the cake and hands are held a little tighter - but you will hold each and every memory of your friends and family dear.
