This is what I always say about our local football (Garden Route to be specific) (Soccer and Rugby) - when there's big Events. They never consider us. I would mention few - Knysna Oyster Festival, Easter Tournament, Knysna Mayor's Cup etc.

As someone who deeply cares about South African football and the power of visual storytelling, I must admit that I am one of those that are disappointed by the quality of visuals produced around our national team's FIFA World Cup camp so far.

From the departure in South Africa, to the arrival in Mexico and even the first training session, the visual content shared on official platforms has not reflected the magnitude of this moment. This is our first FIFA World Cup appearance in 16 years, a historic occasion that deserved to be documented with pride, passion, creativity and excellence.

What makes it even more disappointing is knowing that South Africa is blessed with an abundance of talented photographers, videographers and creatives who have spent years documenting and promoting our football with dedication, often without recognition. These are individuals who understand our game, our culture, our identity and how to tell our stories through powerful imagery.

Unfortunately, when major events arrive many of these passionate football creatives are overlooked. It often feels as though those who have consistently invested their time, energy and talent into growing the game are not considered deserving of these opportunities and platforms.

Visuals are more than just pictures. They preserve history, inspire future generations, connect supporters to the team, and showcase our identity to the world. Moments like these come once in a generation and they deserve to be captured in a way that reflects the significance of the occasion.

This is not criticism. I am saying this on a South African photographer's point of view. It is a plea for greater appreciation of the creative talent that exists within our football community. South African football deserves world class storytelling, especially on the world's biggest stage.

Moments of this magnitude deserve to be documented with the same pride and excellence that the players show when representing the nation.I wish nothing but the very best for our national team. They carry the hopes of an entire nation. May they make us proud and create memories that will live with us forever❤️⚽️🇿🇦
