Now an annual fixture, the strongly contested Old Boys vs Open Quad event took place at Roodeplaat Dam on Sunday 22 October 2017.

The reason for the short visit to the Dam and the rowing this weekend...

A few of the competitors from St Mary's DSG Senior School Pretoria and from our stables taking part in the 1st Core League Qualifier at Misty Meadows Equestrian Estate on Sunday.

Congratulations to those who earned rosettes and places and especially for those whose first show it was and those who ventured into classes never before attempted.

My own rower has moved on and I felt a bit out of it, but I found myself alongside the Dam again on Saturday, and for a very brief time I once more took up my camera for rowing ...mainly the Open Quad heats (and mainly St Alban's College), but a few others sailed past my lens...

One forgets how hot and humid Roodeplaat is in March...and what an amazing sport rowing is.

Congrats to those who earned medals and broke records and all the best to those trialling for national selection.
