There is something remarkable about the sport of March & Drill.

Dozens of people moving together.
Every step landing at exactly the same moment.

Synchronization like that doesn’t happen by accident. It takes discipline, awareness and trust in the person next to you.

Because if even one step falls out of rhythm… the entire formation feels it.

That idea stayed with me while developing The Pathfinder.

Because in life, just like in marching, progress isn’t only about the leader at the front.

It’s about everyone moving forward together.

At the DFM pitching session, one of the judges asked me a question I was actually so grateful for: Why the name The Pathfinder?

Fun fact the film was originally called "Stand Up Straight. But as the story evolved, so did the title.

In the sport of March and Drill, precision is everything. When the team marches in formation, the lines they create form paths. Between each line there is a clear path for the coach to walk through. If that path is skew, the coach steps in and straightens it out so the formation looks strong, disciplined, and united.

And that idea felt deeply connected to the heart of the story.

Because The Pathfinder is also a coming-of-age journey. Kamilla begins as a rebellious teenager, but through the discipline and culture of March and Drill, she slowly grows into a more focused and grounded young woman.

Just like in life, sometimes we lose our direction. And sometimes it takes guidance, discipline, and community to help us find our path again.

That’s what The Pathfinderis really about.

Finding your path… and becoming the person you were meant to be.

This week we celebrate the incredible schools and young people who became part of The Pathfinder journey. What started as a proof of concept film quickly became something much bigger, an opportunity for students to step onto a real film set and experience the world of professional filmmaking firsthand.

For many of these learners, this was the first time they saw how a film is truly made: working alongside a professional cast, learning from an experienced industry crew, and discovering that their stories and their voices belong on screen too.

Film has the power to open doors. It builds confidence, sparks creativity, and shows young people that the creative industry is not just something they watch, it’s something they can be part of.

We are incredibly proud of every school, every learner, and every educator who believed in this journey and allowed their students to be part of something special.

This is only the beginning.

Follow The Pathfinder on Instagram to watch the journey of this film unfold, from classrooms to cameras, from a proof of concept to something much bigger.

Because sometimes all it takes is one opportunity to change the path of a dream.
