Four years between shoots with Hanlie and her family, and what a joy it was to be back at Rocky Bay with them. The kids have shot up - taller, bigger, full of personality. Granny and Grandpa are a little older and a lot wiser. But the thing that struck me most was looking at my own work across those four years: my lighting is far more intentional now, and my posing has come a long way. We all grow. It's a privilege to document a family twice and see how far everyone's come - them and me both.

There's something about three generations in one frame. The story of a family, told in a single golden hour.

Family Beach Photos in winter

You have got to love the South Coast. We do not experience winters like most parts of the country. There might be a slight chill in the air as the land breeze blows, but by the time the sun is above the horizon, we have beautiful light, and it gets warm quite quickly.

The weather the past few days has been absolutely amazing. No wind - perfect blue seas and warm days. Today felt like summer.

Congratulations, Tej and Greg.

Friday was a perfect day, until ot was time to meet Tej and Greg. A south-westerly wind came through a little earlier than expected, and we had to change locations. Uvongo beach was the choice - and it turned out amazing.

The coast offers some fantastic holiday accommodation.
This unit was commissioned and set up by Van Heerden Letting. This beautiful space has magnificent views looking onto Margate Beach.

Professional photos can boost your property views. The images you share are a direct reflection of how a prospective client perceives value.
When someone scrolls past your listing, they're not reading the description first - they're looking. A dim, cluttered, or rushed photo tells them "ordinary" before they've seen a single room. A considered one tells them, "This is worth a closer look."

Jessica and Sheldon.

A warm afternoon on a private stretch of beach. Loved creating memories for these two.
I used a combination of natural light and strobe (flash). Using flash, the excitement of looking through the viewfinder and seeing a photograph so different from what can be captured in natural light or on a phone is something that always excites me.

The South Coast has amazing beaches, some of which are invisible to the general public.
This small stretch of paradise is known as Sea Park. Really close to my studio.
Growing up in the area, I used to walk this stretch of beach most days to get to the popular Umtentweni Beach. Once can't access this beach from the road. A real private gem.
