There are some places that leave an impression long after you’ve walked their halls, and for me, that place was Michaelhouse.
Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a wedding alongside the talented Elysian Photography - Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer for a Michaelhouse Old Boy, and I was completely captivated by the school’s beauty, history, and tradition. Founded in 1896, Michaelhouse is one of South Africa’s most prestigious boys’ schools, renowned for its academic excellence, sporting achievements, and rich heritage.
From the stunning red-brick architecture and historic chapel to the symbolism woven throughout the campus, every corner tells a story. Walking through these halls felt like stepping through generations of history, leadership, and brotherhood.
As a photographer, I’m always drawn to places with character and meaning, and Michaelhouse offers both in abundance. Without a doubt, it is one of the most beautiful schools I have ever had the opportunity to visit.
And as a mom? I can only dream of one day sending my son here… although after seeing the grounds, traditions, and facilities, I may need to start buying lottery tickets first! 😂
