Obsessed. That's it - that's the whole post.

How can you even begin to find words when magic unfolds infront of your eyes like it did on this day? Chayden & Zané drove a whole province for this session to happen. Monitoring the weather, I informed them that if they wanted any chance of some golden hour/ blue hour photos, it was going to have to be on the beach at sunrise. Without hesitation they agreed, and WOW.

Thank you two for trusting me, and being such an incredibly sweet pair🧡 it was an honour to have my first ever sunrise beach session with you 🌅

Sunrise Family Session - The Kapp Family

Breathtaking isn't even the right word for how kind the weather and sunrise over the ocean was to us this morning😍 The boys had mixed feelings about being up before sunrise and having the cyclops lady around 🤭 But they warmed up as the sun rays started shining through🧡

Here's the deal - when you book a session with me, I will tell you 2 things: I am a lifestyle photographer, and I shoot with natural light.

What this means is that I will get you a few cute posed "Cheeeese" shots for that canvas you want up in your home or that photo album on your coffee table,, BUT, my passion lies in capturing the moments that mostly go unnoticed. The soft touch of a loved one's hand, the gentle nurture of a father and son, the sun doing its thing and just beaming through my lens (RIP nifty-fifty), and the uncontainable laughter of everyone after it becomes aparent that someone tried to let a sneaky fart out and failed. 🤣

You cannot book me and expect a gallery of perfectly poised images that should be hanging in Buckingham Palace... but I promise only one thing: to do everything I can to capture this moment in time, exactly as it is and gift you memories you may cherish for years to come. 🧡

How absolutely precious these two are 🥹🧡🎨

Sometimes we think that we need to go above and beyond to get the little ones engaged with the photographer, but the reality is: kids will always be exactly what they are - kids.

Our expectations of them to smile and wave oftentimes create a stressful environment for them and the pictures you get in return often feel... forced, fake, or disingenuous. If we as parents can take a step back, a deep breathe, and let them warm up at their own pace, you will find that the magic usually unfolds on its own.

This session was no exception. Thank you Chané for trusting me enough to wreck a few tshirts and let your boys enjoy the afternoon to its fullest🧡 It was such a privilege to capture this day for you and your family.

Amanda and her family won a special raffle session, supporting Izette Strydom on her journey to the IFBB World Stage, and the laughter and joy during this session was second to none.

I would say the only lesson learned on this day is that the Richards Bay mosquitos do not care when you wear skinny jeans - they WILL find a way 🤣🥴

I have more emotions than words when it comes to this family.. being part of Natasha Bolsens & Ubert Bolsens lives behind the lens start back in Lockdown 2020. I was privileged to be part of their wedding day, their daughter's maternity, newborn and first birthday sessions, and was blessed to be asked to capture the coming of their son, Markus.

🌊 Some sessions stay with you long after you've packed away your camera.

Back in 2020, I photographed Josh & Shay on the beaches of Struisbaai for my very first beach session. I was still finding my feet, but they brought so much warmth, patience, and laughter to the day that everything seemed to fall into place.

A few years later, they said "I do," and every time I look back at these photos, I'm reminded why I fell in love with capturing people's stories.
