TRAVELING WHEN I WAS BROKE, WAS RICH FOR ME

- Traveling by taxi from Pretoria and across Lesotho
- Hosted by locals
- Getting lost
- Locals allowing you to travel on their donkeys & horses
- Getting involved in different ceremonies of different cultures
- Sleeping under rocks and in caves
- Not having proper Traveling gear
- Receiving gifts and given new names everywhere you go
- Tasting all kinds of local food
- Bathing in rivers and waterfalls
- Your believes and knowledge getting challenged & recycled.
- Meeting people who are genuinely happy to meet you and end up as friends you can always visit
- Most importantly, you realize what they taught you about other cultures was mostly a LIE

Its only later on you realize how RICH all those experiences were. How they changed your life. When traveling broke, you never know what the day has in store for you.

It's more like freestyling through a journey.

Unlike when you book in hotels, and have tour guides, you already know what to expect and on most cases have seen videos and adverts about your stay and experiences to come. Hotels are nice, but I don't remember coming back home and telling someone about my stay in a hotel.

Traveling broke throws you into REAL ADVENTURE you will carry for the rest of your life. Unexpected experiences partly curated by you.

Dear Young People

You have the health, the youth, TI:ME and the energy to carry you to spaces you will never be able to get to or do when rich and older.

Everytime I come across older people when I travel, they all have one thing in common they tell me....."I WISH I HAD STARTED WHEN I WAS YOUNGER "

Don't wait to get rich. TRAVEL BROKE.

That's RICH.

Iv realized that some don't know or realize that Northern Cape has a coastline/the sea 🌊

A lot i will share about this province one day.

On this tour we drove all the way up closer to the Namibian border.

I saw plants 🌵 iv never seen before.....I met the Nama People.....The San people. I saw vineyards 🍇 in the middle of a desert 🏜
I learned of techniques used to make food stay cool using quiver trees 🌳.....more like a fridge in nature.

I witnessed night skys that appeared like they were constructed by Ai.
Night splashed with stars 🌟 the number of raindrops. Bird 🐦 nests way bigger than car engines.

A province where you can sail to sea with fishermen to catch fresh fish and westcoast rock lobsters 🦞 for breakfast.

The clouds ⛅️ hang low.......very low in these lands.

In this province you meet people who are believed they come from a bloodline of the first people of the planet.

SOUTH AFRICA IS GOLD 🇿🇦

The very first-time I saw the Wildcoast on the net I just couldn't believe it was in South Africa.

I told myself....."One day I'm gonna go see that place myself "

In 2018 I did.

We landed in Port St John and started our 5 day hike through the villages on our way to Coffee Bay.

IT WAS SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL..... AND TILL THIS DAY I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT

Being accommodated by villagers who have turned their huts into warm village based accommodation. For those 5 days we hiked passed hills, forests, rivers, valleys along side the Indian Ocean.

JUST RAW NATURE 🌳🌊

At night we would passout to the sound of the sea waving us to sleep. At some point we crossed 2 rivers where they meet the ocean, on paddle boats 🛶...........THAT WAS FUN

I could go on and on......but all I can say is that iv traveled all the provinces and this part of the Eastern Cape is on my top 4 favorite places in our country.

I remember in one village our guide showed us the house 🏠 where they shot that classic 1990s Telkom advert..........MOOOOOOLO MHLOBO WAM!!.... 👋🏽 ☎️

I remember sitting at the beach ⛱️ with cows 🐄 and goats 🐐

Ever felt like your life is of a character in a film.

Many years ago when i pickedup a camera, i soon realized that my passion was in African Heritage. That became my focus.

My choice of photography wasn't paying me at all. I did it out of LOVE. When most photographers were focusing on the paying projects/jobs (weddings, corporate, events, advertising) i stood my ground on investing my efforts and TI:ME into documenting Heritage.

I was that broke photographer 😄

I didn't know where this passion for documenting Cultures was gonna lead me to, but my motivation was.... IT FELT RIGHT.

Many years of practice and work have passed, and we have become distinctive and therefore trusted in what we do.
Still can't wait to tell you about this project our team was approached to take part in about a month ago.

It's an extremely exciting global project around the ARTS....CULTURE and DESIGN.

It's gonna blow your mind away.......Really can't wait.... 🎥 🎞 🎬
