🚬Smoking kills — 3/3 series
āø»
For this last photo of this series, I am going back to time when I was in the Kruger National Park a while ago. I drove past a known hyena den right next to the road. Visitors often stop there because it’s one of the best opportunities to see a whole clan — mothers, cubs, real moments of their daily life.

At the time of the sighting, this young hyena was just lying at the edge of the road, relaxed… almost looking a bit ā€œboredā€.

But after a few seconds, I noticed something next to her face.
āŒA cigarette pack and two ci******es 😱

I remember feeling shocked, disappointed, and honestly quite disturbed.

How is it possible that someone thought it was a good idea to smoke next to a hyena den or accidentally dropping a cigarette packet out of the car?!

This is something really unacceptable.

It’s already a big problem when pollution fills our cities — because there is no ā€œawayā€. But when we enter natural areas, we carry an even greater responsibility.

Whatever we use stays on this planet. And even if we live in cities, it still impacts natural systems, including water sources that are all connected to the environment around us.

Wild animals rely entirely on their habitat to survive — whether they are predators or prey. Any pollution that is visible and accessible becomes an additional danger, because they don’t know it’s harmful. They might chew it, swallow it… and the consequences can be fatal.

Wildlife deserves an environment that is safe and healthy, where they can live and thrive without our waste.

My posts aim to create awareness and remind us that every small action we take — consciously or unconsciously — has an impact!

🄤A bottle for a life — 2/3 series
āø»
This didn’t happen near a city.
This was deep inside the Kruger National Park.

After seeing the lion cub with the KFC box, my mind went back to this sighting from a few years ago.

We were in a dry riverbed, far from everything. One of those places where you feel completely immersed in nature, where everything seems untouched and exactly as it should be.
We were watching a troop of baboons spread out across the riverbed — some grooming, some playing, others just enjoying the moment.

Then a few of the younger ones got curious about something.

Plastic bottles.

The bottles didn’t come from there. At some point, when the river was flowing, they must have been carried from somewhere else, travelling who knows how far before ending up right there, in the middle of a national park.

And this is the part we don’t see enough.

What we throw ā€œawayā€ doesn’t disappear. It moves. It travels. It accumulates… until it reaches places we imagine to be untouched.

We use plastic for a few minutes, and then it stays in the environment for hundreds of years. And in that time, it becomes dangerous — ingested, broken down into microplastics that leak into the soil, mistaken for food, or simply interfering with animals that are just being curious.

Animals don’t know what it is.
They don’t know it can harm them.
Sometimes it even smells or tastes like food.

So they interact with it.

This is not about being perfect or judging anyone.
I’ve changed many of my own habits over the years, and I know it doesn’t happen overnight. But it starts with awareness, and with small choices that, over time, become part of who we are.

One small action at a time.

Because those small choices don’t stay small!

šŸŖ„If you had to give up single-use plastic, where would you start?
Plastic bottles, plastic bags, takeaway containers, coffee cups, straws…

Take the pledge — even just one change.

šŸŸ(Don’t) Take away — 1/3 series
āø»
Last week I went to Addo Elephant Park for the day.
I had only been there once before, so I was excited to go back and make the most of it!

I had heard about a lioness with four cubs, so I started driving, full of hope to find them… and with a bit of luck, I did!

Four cubs.
Playful, curious, full of life.

After a while, the mother got up and moved a few meters away, and of course, the cubs followed her. They settled again under another small bush.

That’s when one of them caught my attention.

He started investigating something in the grass.
I noticed a flash of red… and for a second I thought it might be part of a carcass.

Until he lifted it.

😱 It was a KFC takeaway box!!!

I don’t think I can fully describe what I felt in that moment.
Sadness, disappointment, disbelief… and deep frustration.

And also helplessness.
Because there was nothing I could do, except watch… and realise that this is not an isolated moment.

It’s just one of the many we don’t see.

We often think that when we throw something ā€œawayā€ā€¦ it disappears.
But THERE IS NO AWAY.

That box didn’t belong there.
And yet, somehow, it made its way into the mouth of a wild lion cub.

So the question is simple:
how does this even happen… in a national park?
How can we still think it’s okay to throw trash out of a vehicle?

And beyond that — every takeaway container, whether paper or plastic, has a cost.
Used once, then discarded.
Resources taken from nature, just to become waste within minutes.

šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļøThe solution?
Maybe it starts with choosing not to ā€œtake awayā€ in the first place.
Or at least doing it differently.

I know it’s not always easy. I used to be that person too — plastic bottles, plastic bags - I didn’t know better!
šŸ’ŖšŸ» That changed more than ten years ago.
And if it became part of my normal life… I truly believe it can for others too.

🌻What do you think could be a solution to this?

THE MANY FACES OF A KING 🦁 - 3/3 - INSTINCT
And then… everything shifted.
In the same sighting, this male lion went through completely different states — and this was the moment when he lowered himself flat into the grass, in full stalking mode.

He had spotted a group of buffaloes earlier, and now he was evaluating his next move.
Body low, eyes locked, every muscle ready… but still holding back.

Being opportunistic, lions will assess every possible chance that could work in their favour when it comes to hunting.

One thing I’ve noticed about big cats is that they don’t waste energy.
They wait, they read, they decide — with incredible patience and self-control. I find it so fascinating!
(I can’t say the same about my stillness 🤣)

✨ Not every moment is for action. Sometimes, it’s about knowing when to move… and when to stay still.

This image completes the trio collection — three moments from the same encounter, three completely different energies.
Available as fine art prints (colour & black and white), individually or as a full set.

šŸ¤ Which moment did you feel the most — 1, 2 or 3? Do you prefer the colour or black and white version?

THE MANY FACES OF A KING - 2/3: ā€œINTO THE SOULā€ 🦁
And then… he looked straight into my eyes. ā¤ļø

If you’ve never experienced a lion locking eyes with you, it’s hard to explain what it feels like.
There’s a rush of emotions that hits you all at once — raw, powerful, impossible to fully describe.

Those eyes don’t just look at you… they go straight through you.
They make you feel small in the most humbling way, and at the same time deeply connected to something much bigger.

In that moment, everything else fades.
You don’t think — you just feel.

✨ Be fully where you are. That’s where life happens.

This image is part of a limited trio collection — available as fine art prints, individually or as a set (colour & black and white).

šŸ¤ If this moment speaks to you, I’d love to see it come to life in your home/office!

THE MANY FACES OF A KING šŸ¦ā€ — 1/3
ā€œCURIOSITYā€

Even the calmest moment in the bush, can turn to action in less than the blink of an eye. This was one of those moments!

I was observing this beautiful male lion while he was lying down relaxed in the grass, quietly scanning the area. Suddenly, his eyes got really focused on something: a group of buffaloes was walking past in the distance.
He didn’t move, he just observed them.
He was curious, focused, trying to understand if there was any hunting opportunity. Eventually, he stayed in the same spot and continued watching them in the distance.

✨. Curiosity is where everything begins. Stay curious and open to new opportunities. It will always lead you somewhere meant for you.

STILL, THE SUN RISES ā˜€ļø
Every sunrise carries a promise.
A reminder that no matter what yesterday looked like… today is still unwritten.

Some days feel heavy. Others feel full of light, joy and optimism.
But every single one is an opportunity — to try again, to grow, to keep going.

And maybe that’s enough.
Never give up, try one more time.

šŸ†Cheetahs on the hunt! Can you see the prey? 🦌
It’s funny how coincindences can determine events of the future. A couple of days ago I was in the field monitoring ā€œmy animalsā€ (they are all wild and free don’t worry - and most importantly no, I can’t talk to them šŸ˜…). I received a phone call that I decided to take, hoping that it wasn’t the usual advertisement or funeral cover plan 🫣
I could see the cheetahs from a great distance, so I switched off the vehicle, finished the call quickly and then continued a bit closer to better assess their condition. When I finished the call, I could not see them anymore, as they had moved: they saw some antelopes and started hunting! (even if the day before they ate a blesbok). The 5 cubs are now one year old, so eating every day is becoming more and more common: they are 6 hungry cheetahs (including mom).
From the top of the hill, I could see them disappearing in the tall grass. The antelopes started running for their lives: the chase started.
I decided to drive around to a road closer to the place where the hunt took place. It took me about 5 minutes. That’s when I saw the mom still busy killing the young blesbok that they just hunted!
After catching her breath, mom started dragging the carcass under a bush. It took a bit of effort and it seems that walking backwards was the best strategy to move the prey. The cubs tried to help as much as possible, but mom still did most of the job.

The photo captures the moment when the cheetahs were busy moving the prey under a bush, while checking the surroundings, very alert, for possible enemies in the area that could steal their meal and pose a threat. Cheetahs are always incredibly alert when making a kill and eating, as larger predators could easily kill them.
Another incredible moment in the field!!! Nature never stops to amaze me!!!

šŸ¦“ā€Born among stripesā€
Did you know that every zebra’s stripes are completely unique, just like human fingerprints? šŸ–¤šŸ¤

From the moment a foal is born, it relies on those stripes to recognize its mother. The pattern isn’t just beautiful — it’s functional. Zebras use their stripes to stay together in the herd, and to confuse predators with the ā€œdazzle effect,ā€ making it hard for attackers to single one out when they move as a group.
But that’s not all: stripes may also help zebras manage heat, with black and white creating subtle air currents across their skin, and even deter pesky flies, making life a little more comfortable in the savannah.

I decided to create a colour and black and white version of this photo. Which one speaks to you the most? Drop a comment below and let me know which one you prefer — color or B&W?

✨S T R E N G T H I N S T I L N E S S 🦁
This is one of those sightings that will stay with me forever because of the pure stillness of the moment.

This male lion and lioness were resting together on a small hill above the road. It was lightly drizzling, the sky was cloudy, and the atmosphere slightly misty. Everything felt quiet, almost suspended in time.

Nothing had caught their attention, so they were simply doing what lions do: being calm, lazy, overlooking the area, and sharing their space — united in a strong pride bond.

The dirt road where I was parked was below them, giving a perspective that made them look even more majestic.

Moments like these remind me how important it is to slow down, be present, and appreciate calmness as much as action. There was a beautiful mix of peace, stillness, emotions, and a slight adrenaline from seeing these incredible creatures so close. They are simply breathtaking!

Strength is found in being side by side and supporting each other, no matter what life brings.

Let me know how this photo makes you feel šŸ¤
