Why I do what I do, and what I missed.

I make a living capturing memories for other people, but today, I’m facing a heavy reality.​ The truth is deeply personal.

​My father passed away in 2001. We weren't a family that cared much for taking photos back then. Because of that, and because I’ve always disliked being in front of the camera myself, I have zero visual records of my dad. No photos of him, and none of us together. Now that my mom also passed recently, those missing pieces feel even heavier.

​As a photographer, I know the technical side of an image matters. But as a son who has lost both parents, I know that an imperfect photo of a real moment is worth more than gold.

If you're avoiding the camera because you don't like how you look, or if you're putting off a family photo because "there's always next time", take it from me, sometimes next time doesn't come. Take the photo today. Exist in photographs for the people who love you.
