Every Spring the Aloes which grow wild on the Eastern side of the Ossewakop mountain in Wakkerstroom burst into bloom in an assortment of yellow ,orange and red colour .

As I gaze upon the beauty of the sunsets and sunrises in Wakkerstroom I am reminded that others who have come before me have done the same many years ago..Could It be possible that people such as Sir Rider Haggard who spent time in Wakkerstroom, drew on this beauty as inspiration when writing some of his well known novels such as "King Solomons mines" and "She "?
