The Beautiful African Jacana is classed as a wader or shore bird with its environment mainly being rivers, lakes and mud flats. It’s very long toes have given it excellent displacement of weight allowing it to walk on Lilly pads and floating vegetation. This has earned it the name , Lilly Trotter.

A very lucky find while out in the Stellenbosch wine lands. A young Cape Dwarf Chameleon was exposed on a tree trunk and it was a great opportunity to teach the kids. Dwarf Chameleons can occur in high densities in favourable habitats and like more exposed positions. This make them more likely to find but it is not really known why the prefer to be more exposed. We found two in the same area and both were safely released.
