These are a few behind-the-scenes moments from Team Power, and she made every setup look effortless. The final images are great, but watching an athlete step into character and own the camera is just as fun.

Just testing out stroboscopic lighting with my youngest tonight.

And yes, he’s barefoot. 😆 This wasn’t meant to be a finished image—just a quick experiment.

But it got me thinking… imagine a pitcher, quarterback, or basketball player with multiple stages of their motion captured in a single frame.

Sometimes the best ideas start with a simple test.

🏈 MODEL CALL – FOOTBALL ATHLETE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION 🏈

Y1K Studios is looking for 1–4 football athletes to participate in a creative sports photography session featuring advanced lighting techniques and dramatic athlete portraits.

This is a football-focused photography session designed to create the type of images often seen in professional media days and sports marketing campaigns.

Athletes should be dressed in full game attire and bring any equipment they would like incorporated into the session (helmet, gloves, football, etc.).

Selected athletes will receive professionally edited digital images at no cost.

Access to a football field is preferred but not required. If you, your coach, school, team, or organization may be able to help secure permission to use a field, please let me know on the application.

Athletes under 18 will require a signed parent/guardian release.

Rubber glass, lasers, dramatic lighting, and plenty of experimentation. Some setups worked exactly as planned, others taught valuable lessons, but that’s where the growth happens.

One of the biggest takeaways from this workshop has been learning how different elements can work together to create something unique and memorable. It’s not just about taking a photo—it’s about creating an image that makes people stop scrolling.

These are a few of my favorites. Looking forward to bringing some of these techniques into future Y1K Studios sessions.
