Be Seen in Your Best Light - from business to bo***ir, how do you want to be photographed? Maggie Takes Pix is dedicated to helping you be visible in photos that show your authentic, beautiful, and confident best self in images celebrating your life’s true beauty. Capturing memories has been a constant in my life, and for over a decade, I taught simple techniques to other family photo historians to preserve their memories in scrapbooks. What I noticed, however, is that so many women (my primary client) were not actually IN the scrapbooks they were creating; they were too busy wielding the camera. Many felt that including themselves wasn't important... but what they don't realize is that their children will want to look back at those scrapbooks and see Mom, too! My goal - since 2010 - is to help women by creating portraits of them that they are proud to share: online, in their scrapbooks, in a frame on the mantle, and on the wall with other family members. I've studied lighting and posing to flatter, and guarantee that we'll have a good time creating these portraits of you, for you, in your custom session. I've been quiet here for a little while.

This summer took me in directions I hadn't anticipated—time with family, an unexpected loss, two weeks away dealing with estate matters, and a significant professional commitment that is still ahead of me.

Life, in other words.

And perhaps that's the most appropriate reason for a portrait photographer to step away from the camera for a while, because sometimes we need to stop documenting life and simply live it. Be with the people we love. Make the phone calls. Sit around the table. Change the plans. Take care of what needs taking care of. And pay attention.

What these past few months have reminded me is something I've always believed: photographs matter because life matters.

The people we love are changing. We are changing. The seasons of our lives are changing. And we don't always know when something ordinary will become something precious.

I'm looking forward to returning to the studio this fall; I'm returning with an even deeper appreciation for why I do this work.

To preserve the people, the faces, and the relationships.

The women we are becoming.

The life we're living right now.
