I'm Dawn, a portrait, fashion, and wedding photographer based out of Cottage Grove, Oregon.

I cannot imagine my life without photography. The feeling I get when clients tell me how happy they are with their photos, and how pretty they feel, makes me smile from ear to ear. I strive for that feeling in every photoshoot!

Not just pretty photos. Not just poses. But the way it felt.

Behind the scenes it might look chaotic, windy, awkward, or ordinary.
But this is why you hire someone who sees beyond what’s happening, and shoots for what it becomes.

You’re not paying for a camera.
You’re investing in how your story will be remembered.

I fear I’ve made culling fun again. 😂

I recently added the MX Creative Console to my editing setup and one of my FAVORITE things I’ve done with it so far is program it for Photo Mechanic.

I basically mapped the buttons I use constantly while culling so instead of thinking about keyboard shortcuts, my hand can just sit here and click click click through a gallery.

And the best part is that I’m still figuring out everything I want to program into this thing, Photo Mechanic, Lightroom, editing shortcuts, workflow stuff… the possibilities are kind of wild.

I linked the Logitech MX Creative Console with the rest of my photography/editing gear 🤎

An ND filter doesn’t create the look. My camera settings do.

When I’m shooting in really bright light, sometimes the aperture + shutter speed I want creatively let in way too much light.

An ND filter reduces the amount of light entering my lens so I can keep the settings I actually WANT, like shooting wide open for softer backgrounds or slowing my shutter for intentional movement, without completely blowing out the image.

Basically: less incoming light = more creative control.

And because filter sizing can be confusing, here are some common lenses + the ND size you’ll need:

CANON RF

35mm f/1.4 L VCM → 67mm
50mm f/1.2 L → 77mm
85mm f/1.2 L → 82mm
24–70mm f/2.8 L → 82mm
28–70mm f/2 L → 95mm
70–200mm f/2.8 L → 77mm

SONY FE

35mm f/1.4 GM → 67mm
50mm f/1.2 GM → 72mm
85mm f/1.4 GM II → 77mm
24–70mm f/2.8 GM II → 82mm
28–70mm f/2 GM → 86mm
70–200mm f/2.8 GM II → 77mm

NIKON Z

35mm f/1.8 S → 62mm
35mm f/1.2 S → 82mm
50mm f/1.8 S → 62mm
50mm f/1.2 S → 82mm
85mm f/1.8 S → 67mm
85mm f/1.2 S → 82mm
28–75mm f/2.8 → 67mm
24–70mm f/2.8 S → 82mm
70–200mm f/2.8 → 77mm

Look for the little Ø symbol on the front of your lens, the number beside it is your filter size.
