The best part of my job is that I get to interact and be a part of the fun and festivities. Getting to know my clients, capturing their moments and telling their story. I have the privilege of shooting weddings, portraits, and special events in the Greater Fort Myers area.

Wedding tip: when choosing where to get ready, look for natural window light and a little open space. It can make a huge difference in your getting-ready photos and gives everyone room to breathe before the ceremony begins.

A wedding timeline should help the day feel smoother, not turn it into a stopwatch. Good timing means less rushing, better use of the light and more room for the moments that cannot be planned.

Planning a 2027 wedding in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples or Bonita Springs? If photography is important to you, start the conversation early. The goal is not just to fill a date. It is to make sure the photographer and the way they tell a story actually fit you.

Wedding photos are not only about the big moments. The hand squeeze before the ceremony. Your parents watching from across the room. Your friends losing it on the dance floor. Those little moments are often the ones that end up meaning the most.

Your engagement session is more than just pictures for the save-the-date. It is also a chance to get comfortable together in front of the camera before the wedding day. By the time the wedding arrives, the camera feels a whole lot less intimidating.

Sometimes you just take the L.

Here's something they don't teach you when you start a photography business.

You're the photographer, the editor, the accountant, the marketing department, the customer service representative, and apparently, the employee who needs to go back to elementary school for math.

Running a business is a learning experience, and sometimes those lessons come straight out of your own pocket.

You might miscalculate something, underestimate the time something takes, or completely overlook a detail that was right in front of your face.

And when that happens, you have two choices.

You can try to make it someone else's problem, or you can own it.

One thing I've learned is that accountability means more than saying, "My bad."

Sometimes it means honoring your word even when it costs you. Sometimes it means doing a little extra work without charging for it. Sometimes it means accepting that you made the mistake, so you're the one responsible for making it right.

And listen, nobody enjoys losing money. Especially when you're a small business owner and every dollar matters.

But I'd rather lose a little money than lose my integrity.

I'm not a perfect business owner. I'm still learning, still growing, and apparently still working on basic arithmetic.

At the end of the day, your reputation isn't just built on the beautiful work you deliver. It's built on how you handle things when you get them wrong.

Anyway, if anybody knows a good fifth-grade math tutor, send them my way. And apparently, my lesson today is that 4 to 9 is FIVE hours.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

One wedding-day tip that saves a ton of time: make your family-formal photo list before the wedding. Knowing exactly who needs to be in each group keeps portraits moving and gets everyone back to celebrating faster.

First look or no first look? There is no right answer. A first look can give you more time together before the ceremony and help the timeline breathe. Waiting until the aisle keeps that traditional moment intact. Pick the one that feels most like you.
