Night moves...

The South Carolina Air National Guard will be conducting night flying operations this evening as part of routine training requirements.

Night flying is essential to maintaining the skills our Airmen need to operate safely and effectively in all conditions. Residents in the surrounding communities may notice increased aircraft activity during the evening hours.

I don't see many around here (they were Pawnees back in the day), but there were plenty of Air Tractor's flying ag missions around El Centro last year.

Powerlines and palm trees are there to dodge and weave around...must be fun at the very same time dangerous. Mad pilot skills!

I watched my first Harrier "stop" in midair at Oshkosh back in the mid to late 70's, so it was a very special week at MCAS Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point to watch them fly. Closing a 50 year circle (give or take)!

Even managed to fit F-35's from VMFAT-501 into a couple of frames.

Thanks to a legendary aircraft for all those years of service, and to the pilots and crew that kept them in the air fulfilling their mission.

Staging for fire season, but after all the rain from the past week and what they say is still coming next week, hopefully we won't need her.

Memorial Day…we will always remember.

I believe chasing aviation like so many of us do, when we see a US military plane fly but even more when we cross paths with one of the old Warbirds from a page in our storied history, that we are reminded again of the lives that have been lost for our freedom…in the skies above us, on the ground we walk upon, and on the seas that surround us.

I daresay that every day we should remember “Memorial Day”…so that we truly never forget.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are grieving. May we, as ...
