Katie | Class of 2027 🌸

I was told we were shooting this senior session at a relative’s property. I was not prepared to walk into their very own Secret Garden!

Every time I thought we’d seen it all, there was another little path, another arbor, another wall of flowers, more fruit trees. It was absolutely stunning and made the sweetest backdrop for Katie and her cousin Dani to share their senior sessions.

What comes next? Katie wants to become a teacher, just like her mama. 🥹 And after spending an evening with her, I can absolutely see it. She had that warm, bubbly, make-you-feel-comfortable-in-five-seconds kind of personality that just feels made for a classroom.

A senior year, a garden that felt a little bit enchanted, and a whole new chapter waiting on the other side. 🤍🌸

I'm back!

Over the holiday weekend, we were busy celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary with a vow renewal followed by a trip to the Smoky Mountains.

Now it's time to kick things into high gear for the fall season!

But first, a few housekeeping items:

𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙪𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 🤍

In the past, my contract has required proof gallery selections to be completed within 48 hours (excluding weddings). I've always been very lenient with that deadline because I understand that life gets busy and choosing favorites takes time.

Unfortunately, that leniency has resulted in some sessions remaining unfinished in my workflow for weeks—and in some cases, months—while awaiting selections. With the volume of galleries I process, that's simply no longer sustainable.

So, effective immediately, I'm actually extending the selection period to 7 days, but I will be enforcing that deadline moving forward.

𝗜𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝟳 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀, 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘂𝗲.

Once the selection window closes, the proof gallery will be removed. Unselected proofs will no longer be accessible or available for purchase, so the selection period is your opportunity to purchase any additional images you'd like to keep.

This allows me to keep sessions moving through my workflow, give every gallery the attention it deserves, and provide more predictable turnaround times for everyone.

There’s something pretty special about being welcomed into a wedding day with a group of people you’ve never met before and somehow leaving feeling like you were part of the family.

Casey & Jaime’s intimate elopement started at Garland before heading to the Manor - my second home atp. 😂

But this day was about so much more than the places.

At Garland, we recreated a family photo taken in the same spot nearly (or possibly over?) a decade ago. Casey insisted I join everyone for the ch*****ne toast. Grandpa invited me to dinner with everyone afterward. By the end of the night, I genuinely couldn’t remember the last time I’d felt so completely at home with a group of people who had been strangers to me just hours earlier.

And I loved another little piece of their story, too: While this family isn't local, this area isn’t new to them. Like many of my clients, they've been coming to Lewiston since the ’80s, and not only did they choose to be married here, they intentionally chose several local vendors for their day - including myself.

I think sometimes we forget that the places we call home belong to other people’s stories, too. Lewiston means something to people who have never lived here. It’s where they spent summers, where their families returned year after year, where decades of memories accumulated — and sometimes, eventually, where they come back to get married.

A little thank you for your patience lately. 🤍

We are DEEP in busy season over here, and I just want to say how much I appreciate everyone patiently waiting for their galleries.

One thing you may not know about the way I work is that 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘈𝘐 to process or edit my galleries. Every session goes through the whole process with me—uploading some very, very large files, culling and proofing, exporting, uploading again, and then, once your selections are made, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲.

There isn't a button I press that spits out a finished gallery. 😂 Every photograph you receive has actually sat in front of me on my computer while I work on it individually.

And while photography is a huge part of my life, it isn't the only part of it. I'm also raising four kids, have a husband and a home and a family that need me, and unfortunately Lightroom has yet to become an acceptable outdoor activity while my kids play. 😂

So truly—thank you for giving me the time to do this well. I know how exciting it is to be waiting on your photographs, and I don't take your patience lightly.

I'm working through galleries as quickly as I can without turning the part of this job that matters most to me over to automation or sacrificing the care I put into your images.
