🐴 LONG ISLAND EQUINE COMMUNITY — WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER!
With the recent concerns surrounding Equine Herpesvirus (EHV), I think it’s important that we remember we’re all on the same side here.
The Hampton Classic received significant attention surrounding the neglected polo ponies, and rightfully so. Those horses deserved attention and accountability. But the reported EHV case associated with the show deserved that same level of attention, transparency, and communication.
When we’re dealing with a contagious virus that can have devastating consequences, notifying exhibitors, trainers, and horse owners should be a priority. Horse health and safety cannot be selective.
Rather than turning on one another, our Long Island equine community needs to come together. Take quarantine precautions seriously, limit unnecessary horse movement, follow veterinary recommendations, and look out for your neighboring barns.
Accountability matters, but so does what we do moving forward.
Let’s work together to stop the spread, protect our horses, and get this virus off our island. ❤️🐴
