HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED: IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN VETERANS

What an incredible weekend honoring and paying tribute to the brave men and women who served our country during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

From October 10 through October 12, the Iraq Afghanistan Dog Tag Memorial was on display at the Billerica Elks Club, giving veterans, families, friends, and community members an opportunity to come together, reflect, remember, and pay their respects to those who served.

A special THANK YOU to the Billerica Veterans Service Office for bringing this meaningful memorial to Billerica and providing the community with an opportunity to experience its powerful message.

Throughout the weekend, people stopped by to view the memorial and pay tribute. Among those who visited were veterans who took the time to share their experiences, exchange stories, and connect with fellow service members. These conversations were a powerful reminder of the bonds formed through military service and the importance of ensuring that the experiences and sacrifices of our veterans are never forgotten.

Each day featured ceremonies, including opening and closing ceremonies and a dedicated memorial ceremony. Every ceremony was truly moving, featuring personal stories, reflections, and explanations of the significance behind the memorial. Hearing these stories and witnessing the respect shown by everyone in attendance made this weekend an especially meaningful experience.

We must never forget the sacrifices made by our veterans, the families who stood beside them, and the brothers and sisters in arms who never made it home.

Want to get involved in future veterans’ events?

Be sure to follow Billerica Honor Platoon to learn about upcoming veterans’ events, community opportunities, and ways to volunteer and support those who have served.

Thank you to all our veterans for your service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Your stories matter, your service matters, and you will never be forgotten.

It’s been a week already, so why not look back at an incredible afternoon at Haverhill Woofstock!

What a great event! So many awesome vendors, great people, incredible K9 demonstrations from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, and, of course, TONS of absolutely adorable dogs!

The K9 demonstration was definitely one of the highlights of the afternoon. Getting to watch the K9s and their handlers showcase the different skills and tasks they train for was pretty incredible.

But honestly, everywhere you looked, there was something going on: vendors, families, dogs making new friends, and plenty of smiles all around.

It was a fantastic afternoon celebrating our community and our four-legged friends!

Here are some more photos from a great afternoon at Haverhill Woofstock 2026!

If you missed Haverhill Woofstock, you definitely missed a day filled with dogs, puppies, families, laughs, and plenty of four-legged chaos!

One of the highlights of the day was an awesome K9 demonstration from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Sheriff Nestor and his K9 partner Ryder, along with Deputy Sheriff King and her K9 partner Freya, gave everyone a behind-the-scenes look at the important work these highly trained K9 teams do.

The deputies talked about the different jobs and tasks K9s can be trained to perform and explained how they work together with their handlers.

Ryder and Freya took part in several demonstrations, showing how they respond to their handlers and conduct different types of searches. Watching these K9s go to work was pretty incredible—and it was easy to see just how much training, focus, and teamwork go into what they do.

And yes… these dogs may have been working, but they still managed to steal the show!

A huge thank-you to Deputy Sheriff Nestor, Ryder, Deputy Sheriff King, and Freya for coming out and giving the community such an informative and entertaining demonstration.

It was a great opportunity for kids, families, dog lovers, and everyone else at Woofstock to learn more about the important role K9 teams play while getting to see these incredible dogs do what they do best.

Haverhill Woofstock was absolutely fantastic!

What a day! Great weather, an incredible community turnout, and enough dogs and puppies to make you wonder if Haverhill had temporarily been taken over by our four-legged friends.

From the Essex County Sheriff’s K9 Demonstration to Sweet Paws Rescue bringing adorable puppies looking for their furever homes, the costume parade, and everything in between, there was something for everyone.

And honestly… you didn’t even need to own a dog to have a great time!

There were dogs of every shape, size, breed, personality, and energy level. Some were making new friends, some were enjoying the attention, and others were probably wondering why their humans kept stopping to talk instead of continuing the walk.

Events like Woofstock are what community is all about bringing people together, getting outside, meeting new people, supporting local organizations and, of course, giving our dogs an opportunity to socialize with new best friends.

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make Haverhill Woofstock such a great community event. It was a fantastic day filled with smiles, laughter, wagging tails, and plenty of memories.

If you’re planning an event, party, community gathering, family celebration, fundraiser, or just want those special moments captured, Jarvi Productions would love to help!

Because whether it’s a major community event or your dog finally sitting still long enough for that perfect photo… the moment is worth capturing.
