This stupid song is stuck in my head! And yes… I’m a K/DA fan 😬

G.I. JOE X Lara Croft

Something a little bit different today. Pick up this cool figure and I’m really enjoy posing her. Hasbro did a good overall job on this one. Wish her articulation was slightly flexible. Tons of accessories.

So I’ve been playing around with the latest Photoshop Beta Relight feature and it’s pretty mind boggling. It seems like the program tries to understands all the edges and tries (at least really hard) to predict how the light would wrap and bend around objects and shapes.

Do I like it? I find it interesting but I wouldn’t necessarily replace true lighting. Do I think this destroys or replace real lighting photography? Personally I don’t think so. To me it’s seems like a good “guesstimation” of where the light source is coming from to create “simulated dynamic lighting”. I still think people should learn and experiment with real lighting principles rather than let the program digitally guess it.

But overall I find it a very interesting tool to play with.

Final wash completed.
Final metallic paint touch up completed.
Final dull coat application completed.

I must admit, this figure has really grown on me! When it was first announced, I thought it was a let down. I didn’t like how it looked and it didn’t help that the promotional pics were mis-transformed. But after spending a good amount of time while washing, painting and shooting this guy, I really think it’s a great figure! It just needed a little TLC to make it more screen accurate.

Brown wash completed on the legs and a flat coat sprayed over it to make it more drabby overall. Next step; add metallic paint to highlight certain parts. More pics coming soon!

Let the wash begin! Still in progress. Need to do the legs next and then wipe away the wash and let the panel lines show better. Might finish it with a dull coat spray.

The fiasco continues…
Finally got Starscream after the whole chaotic situation with Hasbro and Target really dropping the ball initially. I’m just thankful that this guy is finally home.
