Led by five different goal scorers — including a two-goal night from Jesse Heslop — the Everett Silvertips defeated the Tri-City Americans 6-3 at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington, during the Silvertips’ annual Mascot Mania game on February 1, 2026.

Everett hopped out to an early 3-0 lead by the end of the first period as Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen, Lukas Kaplan, and Matias Vanhanen each knocked in a goal. Miettinen’s goal came on the power play, and Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear tallied assists on two of the scoring shots.

Jakub Vanecek got the Americans on the board to open the second period, knocking in Tri-City’s first goal 2:19 into the frame. The Silvertips responded accordingly, dropping two more pucks into the net courtesy of Heslop and Rylan Gould to jump ahead 5-1.

Tri-City attempted to come back during the third period, beginning the final chunk of play with a pair of goals scored by Connor Dale to knock the Silvertips’ advantage down to only two. However, Heslop netted an insurance goal with just 10 seconds remaining in the game, sealing Everett’s 6-3 victory.

Five Silvertips had multi-point performances during the matchup, and Bear led the team with three — all of which were assists. Bear’s efforts earned him First Star honors, Gould received Second Star recognition, and Zackary Shantz was named Third Star for having a pair of assists.

Defending the Silvertips’ goal, Raiden LeGall collected 27 saves.

Competing in the fifth edition of the Battle of the Sound, the Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-1 at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, on January 31, 2026.

Everett found scoring territory first, delivering the game’s initial strike just 2:19 into the game courtesy of Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear. Assisted by Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen and defenseman Landon DuPont, Bear battled in netfront space to punch in the game’s opening goal. Providing Everett a 2-0 lead was Matias Vanhanen, who was assisted by his fellow Finnish teammate in Miettinen along with Bear.

Bear furthered the Silvertips’ advantage to 3-0 early into the second period, netting his second goal of the game after being assisted by Vanhanen and DuPont while on the power play. Everett goaltender Anders Miller continued to blank the Thunderbirds’ offense, holding the Silvertips’ rival out of the scoring column until the third period.

Extending Everett’s upper hand just 24 seconds into the third period was Rylan Gould, who also scored during a Silvertips power play. He, likewise to Bear, was also assisted by the duo of Vanhanen and DuPont. Matthew Gard scored the Thunderbirds’ first and only goal 19 seconds later, breaking the shutout Miller held in net after being fed by passes from Antonio Martorana and Ethan Bibeau.

Providing the final goal of the game was Everett’s Kayd Ruedig. Setting his team ahead 5-1, Ruedig put the puck into the net following passes from Vanhanen and Bear. Miller closed out the game by preventing the Thunderbirds offense from finding paydirt again, stopping 19 of the 20 shots he faced on the night.

Vanhanen and Bear each finished the matchup with four-point performances, and DuPont narrowly trailed them with a three-point outing. Bear earned First Star honors, and Miettinen was named Third Star for his multi-point night. Gard was named Second Star, earning the Thunderbirds’ only star as a result of his third-period goal.

Driven by a multi-goal third period, the Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington, on January 24, 2026.

The rival teams each knocked in one goal during the first period, creating an early 1-1 tie. Sawyer Mayes opened the scoring for Seattle 5:46 into the game, giving the Thunderbirds a 1-0 advantage that held until the 13:03 mark as Jaxsin Vaughan knotted the game by scoring for the Silvertips. Neither team scored during the second period, keeping a tense battle intact coming into the game’s final 20 minutes.

Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen punched in the Silvertips’ second goal just under four minutes into the third period, giving Everett a late lead. Following nearly 10 more minutes of play, the Thunderbirds equalized the score courtesy of Mayes as he provided his second goal of the night.

Sealing the game in the Silvertips’ favor for good was Jesse Heslop, who scored just 15 seconds after Mayes tied the game for the Thunderbirds. Heslop fired a wrist shot into the left side of the net, capitalizing on a feed from Everett’s Zackary Shantz to lead his team to a one-goal victory.

In total, eight different Silvertips players notched a point during the contest and goaltender Anders Miller stopped 18 of the shots he faced. For Seattle, Mayes and Ethan Bibeau turned in multi-point nights, and goaltender Grayson Malinoski collected 48 saves.

The Everett AquaSox had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Challenger League Jamboree on June 20 at the Northshore Athletic Fields in Woodinville, Washington!

Players and coaches from the AquaSox and Hillsboro Hops participated in playing alongside the Challenger athletes, and I had the opportunity to photograph the event and represent the Everett organization alongside Director of Community Relations Alex Payne.

For those unfamiliar with Challenger League Baseball, it is an adaptive baseball program for youth and adults with physical, developmental, or intellectual disabilities. The program has over 100 participants in the greater Seattle area, helping foster community and lifelong memories through the shared love of the great game of baseball.

2026 marked my third year attending the Jamboree to photograph on behalf of the AquaSox, and each year I come away from the event with new perspectives and a great appreciation for the Challenger program. In a day chalked full of joy, teamwork, and gratitude for relationships with one another, I slow down and remember why I love sports: The positive community it creates. Personally knowing players and coaches on the teams from various areas of my life has also built an affinity in my heart for the program — families I know travel from hours away to participate in the league’s events.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to capture a slice of the smiles, laughs, and memories for all of the families involved, and I always find it special hearing the participating players and coaches from the AquaSox speak highly of their experience while at the ballpark later in the day.

Baseball brings people together, and the Challenger League Jamboree is a shining gold-star example of that each and every year!
