Nostalgic style lodging in today's Flagstaff, Arizona. The updated name is Whispering Winds Motor Hotel, adding Motor in. Built in 1964 and renovated in the '20's, it retains its 1960s Route 66 aesthetic with bubblegum pink and electric turquoise colors. 9/2025

The once booming Jerome, Arizona began in the 1870's as a copper mining town that prospered with a population of 15,000 up until 1953 when the effects of the Depression and eventually the closure of the ore mines led to it being practically a ghost town. Eventually in the late 60's and 70's, preservationists brought life back to Jerome and the result is an amazing destination for visitors today. Breathtaking scenery by the way. 10/2025

When the itch returns, you scratch it! Considering a return to the Mother Road in 2026 before my Arizona trip for an evening with RUSH in concert in December. Taking into consideration its 100th year anniversary and the size of the celebratory crowds along the way, a visit to Tucumcari, New Mexico is on the radar, along with road trips both east and west of there. This one was taken in late summer 2023 in Central Illinois.

Where Cruse Street meets East Washington Street in Indianapolis, a "ghost sign restoration" project featuring businesses and tenants that occupied the building from days long ago, brought back to life from very old and faded images. The artist's name is seen next to the Oats can in the lower right. Cruse Street is a very narrow alley-like street that could easily be missed as traffic passes near the intersection where Washington St. meets Southeastern Avenue. 6/2026
