At the start of this year, I told myself that I would do more portrait work and it has been a great first half of the year so far. I've done some really fun shoots (which I need to share more of) and I appreciate my friends for not only volunteering their time to model for me, but also trusting me to capture them in ways that, I hope, reflect who I know them to be.
I knew from the start that I wanted to do a photoshoot for May and AAPI Month. I've shared a lot throughout the last few years about my experiences as an Asian-American on my personal page, and particularly how I've been reclaiming the Asian side of that identity as I've gotten older. I wanted to capture the joy that stems from Asian cultures and communities, reflected in the vibrant colors and communal approach to experiencing and sharing food.
This shoot came together at the very last second but it's one of my favorites because of the intent behind it and also the collaborative effort it took to put it together โค๏ธ
