Want to know how I got these 3 completely different looks within seconds of each other? LIGHTING 💡

For today’s Tip Tuesday—no Lightroom trick… this is a shooting tip.

Lighting can make or break your photo. It literally changes the entire vibe.

So here’s what’s happening:
Photo 1: I exposed for my couple → the sky blows out Photo 2: I exposed for the sky → silhouette vibes Photo 3: I exposed for the sky AND used flash → best of both worlds ✨

Same spot. Same moment. Just different choices.

I think we as a society have UNDERESTIMATED how much “an arm and a leg” actually costs 😂
Because why did I just break my leg and find out it’s… aggressively expensive?? Like… way more than my wedding packages 🫣
I’m just here to say, I in fact do not charge an arm & a leg if you are looking for a wedding photographer 😂 PHOTOGRAPHER TAP IN, if you are less than a leg repair 😂

⛔️DO NOT WATCH unless you want the perfect dip kiss photo at your wedding…

The biggest thing you want to avoid?
Blocking your faces with the bouquet.

I’ve seen this happen so many times over my 10+ years of shooting weddings—and it’s such an easy fix.

So here are two options to get that perfect dip kiss photo:

Option 1:
Keep the bouquet in your outside hand as you twirl in, then keep it behind the head before the dip.

Option 2:
As you twirl in, switch the bouquet to your other hand… and then drop your arm towards the ground!

Simple adjustments—completely different result.

Save this if you’re getting married or send it to a friend who is 🫶

I’m a little late on posting these! It’s been a few weeks since I got to meet back up with the Taylor & Mark in Austin Texas for their wedding! I first met Taylor & Mark several years ago in NYC. They met & fell in love in the city but were about to move and wanted photos before they left! We ended up taking their photos in January and it was SO COLD OUT but they crushed their session despite the temperatures. When she reached out again (several years later) about capturing their wedding in Austin I could not be more excited!
Their day was absolutely stunning set against the backdrop of the Stonehouse villa with bright pink and orange florals. So many special little touches and heartfelt moments! It truly was a honor to be asked to capture another moment in their love story!

WHAT PHOTOS WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE!?

I know the wedding world throws around phrases like editorial, candid, and documentary. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting one of those styles. But for my couples, my goal isn’t to stay inside a single style of my choosing—it’s to
use my expertise to bring their vision for their photos to life.

That usually means a mix of both candid/documentary photo and portraits/editorial looks

For me it’s all about what my couples want. I have some couple that just want their gallery to be 99.9% candid photos and I have other couples that lean heavy on the editorial vibes. If you want a photographer that specializes in one of those styles, great! But if you like the look of candid photos but know you’re going to need help with it or if know you want a mix of candid and amazing directed portraits! I’m here for ya!

So which would you choose? Or… you don’t have to choose at all 😉
