Some are for the better.⁠
Some make absolutely no sense.⁠
And some just make me laugh.⁠
⁠
But maybe that's the point.⁠

I wonder how many beliefs we carry simply because they are familiar?⁠
Some deserve to stick around.⁠
Some deserve to be questioned.⁠

Color combinations.⁠
Career paths.⁠
Starting over at 40.⁠
Going to concerts alone.⁠
Building your own business.⁠
Wearing what makes you happy.⁠

The older I get, the more I realize growth isn't always about becoming someone new.⁠

Music is funny.

Sometimes it’s background noise.

Sometimes it’s a lifeline.

Sometimes it’s the thing that says exactly what you couldn’t find words for.

A lyric can feel like a page from your own journal.
A song can take you back ten years in a single breath.
An album can become a season of your life.

Lately I’ve realized the soundtrack of my life isn’t just mine anymore.

It’s road trips with kids.
Record stores.
Listening parties.
Concert tickets purchased months in advance.
Watching them discover the artists that will someday remind them of being young.

The beat gets your attention.

But the lyrics?
The lyrics change you.
And the memories attached to them stay forever. 🎶🤍

Everybody talks about Sedona’s healing powers.

The vortexes.
The energy.
The magic.

And maybe they’re right.

But somewhere between the red dirt, the trail maps, the canned wine, the Whole Foods containers balanced on our laps, and the conversations that stretched long after sunset, I found myself paying attention to something else.

The cacti.

I’ve always been wildly attracted to one of the least attractive plants.

Prickly.
Protective.
Built for harsh conditions.
Yet somehow beautiful.

Maybe because they remind me that growth doesn’t always happen in perfect conditions.
Sometimes it happens in the heat.
In the drought.
In the seasons that ask the most of us.

My best mate Sarah introduced me to Sedona a few years ago, and I’ve been pulled back ever since.
Not because it changes me.
Because it reminds me.

To slow down.
To get grounded.
To stop trying to force answers.
To trust that becoming happens whether I’m rushing it or not.
To remember that nature has never been in a hurry.
And still, it grows.

Truthfully, she probably has no idea how much this moment stayed with me.

There was something so beautiful about the way she saw herself.
Playful. Present. Completely herself.

A quiet reminder that joy doesn’t always arrive in grand moments.
Sometimes it’s found standing in front of a mirror, feeling beautiful, and asking for a Diet Coke. 🤍
