4 Oasis Locations- Northern Illinois: Unique to northern Illinois are over-the -highway food courts. Giant windows on each side of the “bridge” allow for truck watching, with tables and chairs positioned nearby. Multiple food options from fast food, to fresh Mediterranean, to locally made are often available, but vary by location. Bring your own toy car to play near the window for some added fun!

The John Deere Home is a FREE museum site with tours, a blacksmith, and the history of John Deere, who settled in Northern Illinois. We loved how the tour kept moving for our little ones, with easy stroller and wagon ramps for each building. There’s a short movie, excavation site, blacksmith, the preserved home, and gift shop. Tours and admission is completely FREE to the public! Located near Dixon, Illinois, the home is a great spot to visit before or after visiting Dixon (and the drive is pretty, too!)!

Here’s to FIRSTS! Little Guide 815 was invited to be in the Byron Fest parade- and we loved it! If you want a fun spot to visit this week, visit Byron! Free in Byron: the Jarrett Prairie Center, The Byron Public Library, Riverside Park, Blackhawk Park, and Weiskopf observatory (planetarium). All of these spots are top-notch, and don’t forget to drive by the two Nuclear Power Plants!
