Last week, I started "Water Wednesday" on this page. Water, in it's many forms, is one of my favorite things to photograph. Today, I'm tying it to National Park Week (which just wrapped up) with some of my water photographs taken in Yosemite, the Grand Tetons, Acadia, and Yellowstone. In our wonderful parks, waterfalls, rivers, geysers, oceans and lakes help create some of the most beautiful and remarkable landscapes. At the same time, the flash floods this week at the Grand Canyon are a sobering reminder of water's power and potential danger. As beautiful and inspiring as it can be, water also deserves our respect and caution.

Whenever I'm photographing the summer sunflowers at Shady Brook Farm (Yardley, PA), I see loads of bees doing their bee things, but this time I also saw a Beetle! There was a great vantage point next to the field, which offered a perspective in which I was slightly looking down into seemingly endless sunflowers. I took this photo about a week ago, just after sunrise, when soft clouds filtered the early morning light. What if, instead of a Beetle, I saw the Beatles, and they were singing "Sunflower Fields Forever" (to the tune of "Strawberry Fields."). Time to finish my coffee!

Early this morning, just before sunrise, I photographed the "Trenton Makes The World Takes" Bridge (officially the "Lower Trenton Bridge"). The bridge was illuminated in pink and red, to honor Dolly Parton. It seemed as though the pre-dawn sky was also honoring Dolly, as it had dabs of pink interspersed with the soft blues. This is the view from Trenton, New Jersey, looking across the Delaware River towards Morrisville, Pennsylvania. It is an HDR (high dynamic range) image from three exposures that I merged together.

Like many of you, I've spent a bit of time this week reading about Dolly Parton since her passing, and one quote of hers made me laugh: "I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb — and I'm not blonde either." That's why this week's Friday Series theme is "blonde." It is a collection of my photographs in which yellow is the central color. I have alternated between local (Bucks County, PA) images, as well as images from various travels (e.g. Grand Canyon, Italy, Pittsburgh, Gettysburg National Military Park, and the tulips are in front of my mom's house, in Long Island, New York). I offer this collection in honor of Dolly Parton's legacy of kindness, generosity, authenticity, and philanthropy. And two more of her quotes worth carrying with us: "If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain," and "If you see somebody without a smile, give 'em yours."

I'm introducing a new occasional series on the page: Water Wednesdays. Water is one of my favorite things to photograph — waterfalls, rivers, canals, ponds, fountains, oceans, beaches, even a puddle left behind after a rainstorm, it's all fair game. Part of what makes it so much fun is how differently it can be captured: a fast shutter speed freezes every droplet in sharp detail, while a long exposure can turn a scene into something soft and ethereal, flattening the motion into silky streaks. And then there's the way water can act like a mirror, reflecting a scene and adding a whole extra layer to the composition. Look for an occasional "Water Wednesday" post (sometimes just one image, sometimes a small collection) whenever the mood strikes! I'm kicking it off today, with a collection of about half Bucks County images, and the other half from assorted travels. I hope these water images bring a little mid-week refreshment!

This week's Friday series theme is "Bucks County Farms - Fields of Dreams." It was inspired by a combination of two recent things: an early morning (about 10 days ago) photographing the sunflowers at Shady Brook Farm in Yardley, PA, and the recent Major League Baseball "Field of Dreams" game. At Shady Brook, a rusty old truck and a vintage VW Beetle, with the word "Peace" seemed to emerge right out of the sunflowers — not unlike the way the ballplayers emerged from the cornfields in one of my favorite movies, "Field of Dreams." I thought about the line that made it famous: "if you build it, they will come." After hearing that whisper, the farmer (played by Kevin Costner) built his baseball field in the middle of his cornfields, out of nothing but quiet optimism, curiosity and determination. So today's Friday series follows our own Bucks County farms through different seasons, with one question for you: In terms of a historical figure, who would you want to see emerge from the field? A favorite athlete? A historical person who inspires you? For me, I would love to see one of these guys emerging from the sunflowers or cornfields....Abraham Lincoln, Jackie Robinson, John Lennon, Martin Luther King, Jr, Ansel Adams, Michelangelo, the entire 1986 New York Mets team?

I'm excited to announce my new photography workshop this fall: Bucks County in Autumn.

I've spent years photographing Bucks County in the fall, and this October I'm offering a small, three-part experience for beginner and intermediate photographers who want to develop their photographic eye, become more confident with their cameras, and strengthen their composition skills. The workshop is timed to coincide with the peak of our fall foliage season.

The experience includes virtual instruction, a hands-on autumn photography outing at some of my favorite Bucks County locations, and a group image review session afterward.

**October 24 • Morning - Bucks County photography outing
**October 28 • Evening - Group image review

$225 per person • Limited to 8 participants

I've spent more than 15 years photographing and selling my work, much of it focused on Bucks County and the surrounding area. My photography has appeared in River Towns Magazine, Princeton Magazine, Upper Makefield Magazine, and The Yardley Patch, and this fall I'll be featured in Bucks County Magazine in a story about my autumn photography. I've also led photography workshops and presentations on composition, HDR photography, equipment, and Bucks County photography.

My goal for the workshop is to make this a fun and rewarding way to experience Bucks County at its autumn best, while learning new photography skills and coming away with images that you're proud of.
